Just seen Ed Davey having to make a snivelling apology to the house for his phony stories in PMQs. He used the grief of a family who had lost their grandmother to make political gain. Pondcsum politics at its most vile.

GB News sadly sounding more and more pro-Tory by the day. We get a few niceties in the budget after three years of mental and physical torture, and we should be applauding the gov? And she's right, our bills ARE artificially inflated by the Gov't!

    What is she on about?
We need VAT, Business rates and Employers Nics reduced by a third.
    Energy prices are marginal.

She's got a point. Westminster has been mismanaging our oil & gas (and by extension, energy) since the get go.

Our Nation is a PRODUCER. We should get our energy needs provided for as close to cost that can be managed with any surplus then being sold on the open market. But Westminster decided to bring in foreign companies to mine OUR resources and allow those companies to SELL them on the International Markets (we only get the VAT on those sales) and KEEP the profits! As an additional KICK TO THE BALLS, we have to pay these vastly inflated global prices when we BUY BACK our own resources. The whole situation is INSANE. All because the government back in the day wanted instant income and didn't have the foresight to establish the UK's own Oil & Gas Mining Company. We should all be much better off and our Nation far wealthier except we elect dumb-as-fuck politicians in to office.

We get the money back guarantee for another 3 months. The energy price cap is charged every six months not three?! The disable (me), get a 10% increase to their income in April. We are also getting a payment towards the cost of living, which is three separate instalments giving a total of £900 this year! That's great!!

Wait a minute… the Faecal Lib Dems want to make heating cheaper, so that people (in particular, the ethnoes, who always heat their homes to boiling point) can have warmer homes for less money… but then at the same time constantly fart on about the (non- existent) "Climate Crisis."
    Errr.. joined- up thinking?

This is what's wrong with fucking Britain. Why does people's misery depend entirely on how much money they have, disbursed from the government or not?

What a boring robotic existence that is

I like Tom but it was extremely poor reporting from him this morning in Doncaster. How about visiting Toppings pie stall who make for the royals & Fortnum & Mason, the renowned and excellent fish market and the cheese and meat stalls. You spoke to one bloke who had a Hi-Viz stall and a veg stall.

The last time this country trusted the lib dems was because they said student fees would not go up. They put them up with the Tories and London rioted. The problem today is the person in charge of the UK money saying a number is going down that is going up. Richi's point 3 of the 5 point plan was to lower the national debt. Failed.

NEW: Andy Burnham takes swipe at Brexit and Thatcher as he sets out vision for Britain

Published

on

By

Andy Burnham takes aim at Brexit, Thatcherism and Britain’s economic record as he sets out his vision for the country in his first speech as Prime Minister. Burnham pays tribute to Keir Starmer and outlines his plans to deliver economic growth, promising “fiscal responsibility” while arguing that Britain has taken “a series of wrong turns” since the 1980s. He says Brexit “compounded the damage” and pledges to build a pro-business, innovation-led economy across the UK.

Burnham also addresses some of the major issues facing Britain, including the small boats crisis, prison early release and the privatisation of water companies and utilities. Drawing on his experience as Mayor of Manchester, the Prime Minister explains how his time in local government has shaped his approach to leading the country. He concludes by promising that Britain can “believe again” and “bring back hope” as he sets out his ambitions for the future.

Opposition Leader Kemi Badenoch wastes no time in challenging the new Prime Minister, mocking Burnham’s first day in office and warning that being Prime Minister is “a very different job” from being Mayor of Manchester. Badenoch grills him over defence spending, the small boats crisis, tax rises and his criticism of Thatcherism, accusing Burnham of wanting to take Britain “back to the 1970s”.
