To be fair though Sainsbury’s own basic mayo is horrible, and way too vinegary. Tesco’s own real mayonnaise would have been a better choice for this, as I was shocked myself a couple of years ago when I picked some up as I couldn’t be bothered to make my own. It was really good for the price, and didn’t taste processed like many mayonnaise brands do, this really tasted fresh and light.

I like these tasting challenges. I hear so much in other videos about honey being fake, or whatever. I trust you guys on the tips and advice on different ingredients

Best mayo ever = Kupie. Egg mayo made with Kupie mayo should be the law.

Who tf would want a sweet lemon??? I like lemons because I love acidity… I'm tired of sweet sneaking it's way into other flavors… Get your sweet out of my savory and definitely don't defile my sour and bitter 😤

That's like making key lime pie with "mild" limes. This was a bad application. Should have made some fish or something.

The freshness of harpist is the time from when it cut/crushed to eating. Not so much when it harvested. As garlic when still in the Peel last very well.

But as the honey.
We in england and Scotland have great honey you could have used and not BASIC.

When are we going to see a cheap/expensive/home grown/ made trifecta video, would love to see how mayo goes in something like that, also honey from a local bee keeper against a “premium” store option would show price differences. It would be an interesting idea
@Darapsa
December 28, 2023 at 7:32 am
Why are there pearl-like things on the lemon meringue pie?
@grandemage
December 28, 2023 at 7:32 am
lol like 50 shows later and they still say in their guesses that strong bold flavors are the premium choice, when it's always the cheaper. Likely due to being organic, from concentrate or raised something different in it's packaging. But yeah the premium flavors tend to be fresh, mild, subtle comparably, not sure why their choices always fall for this trap like in the lemon choice.

My home-made mayo is actually lighter in colour (pretty much white unless I put pepper in) than the ones I can buy in the store.

Budget lemons from Waitrose. You guys are so out of touch rich.
@billyw8186
December 28, 2023 at 7:32 am
Honey is one of those items I think you should go more premium on as even a slightly better quality is a huge difference. Same with Olive Oil.
I would like to see a Rank 5 Levels of [Product] video. Where you have to arrange ingredients from least to most "premium".
@itarry4
December 28, 2023 at 7:32 am
It's funny that Barry liked all the all the cheap stuff better. Shows it's far more to do with the cooking and combination of products unless the person has a very refined palette.

December 28, 2023 at 7:32 am
The honey one is a scam.
1. you cannot know what plants the bees got the nectar from to ensure all the flowers were 100% organic.
2. in processing you don't add anything to honey to make honey it is what it is, bee spit.
It is literally a same, just like organic white mushrooms……they were always made organically but once you put the organic label on it now it changed in price.

Fun fact limes actually turn yellow when fully ripe but you only see underripe ones at the supermarket, probably so it doesnt get confused with lemons.

Everytime I watch these videos being from Canana I get very angry. The premiums are often cheaper than our standard items.

Since when is Waitrose non premium 🙁 if you gave me an option i coyld actually afford this would be so useful :'D

I'm lost. They gave them Acacia honey and then just basic mixed honey? There are premium mixed honeys and basic acacia honeys. But tbh I don't believe in "premium" honey. It's either good honey to your taste or just awful supermarket stuff, that rarely is a natural honey. Why serve totally different types of honey, when they are nothing alike? It was more about preference, than if it's premium or not.
I'm always surprised to see that in the UK they don't have single flower honey in the supermarkets all that often. Where I live we mostly have single flower honey, with favourite for most being linden honey for the creamy texture and less aggressive taste. My favourite is starthistle and silverberry honey. Honey is a preference thing. Some like linden, some like acacia, some mixed. I would suggest people go to farmer's market and try different honeys, so they can understand which type of flavour is theirs. Mellow, bitter? What kind of structure? Buttersmooth like linden honey or granuly structure of most mixed honeys?

I fortunately have a friend who has dozens of hives and produces award winning honey. It's 30usd per quart but worth every penny.
