Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky rift over Ukraine war continues | BBC News
The rift between the US and Ukrainian presidents over Russia has continued, with White House officials accusing Volodymyr Zelensky of insulting Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, Mr Zelensky rejected US demands for a share of its rare earth minerals – a “deal” Mr Trump said would reflect the amount of aid the US had provided to Ukraine during its war with Russia.
On Thursday, a planned press conference with President Zelensky and the US Chief Envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg was cancelled.

Donald Trump is getting involved in key state primaries – often in cases where US presidents don’t intervene – urging voters to stay away and not vote for candidates who Trump regards as his political enemies.
Trump’s top target is the seven term Republican congressman in Kentucky, Thomas Massie who has stood up to Trump on issues including the Epstein files, congressional spending and the war in Iran. Iran warns US that ‘we are just getting started’ after attacks in Strait of Hormuz | BBC News
The speaker of the Iranian parliament has warned the US that “we are just getting started” after attacks on Monday in the Strait of Hormuz.
Mohammad Ghalibaf – who was the top negotiator in last month’s talks with the US – said “we know well that the continuation of the status quo is intolerable for America”, in a post on X on Tuesday morning in Persian.
US President Donald Trump’s “Project Freedom”, which began on Monday, aims to use the US military to guide stranded cargo ships out of the key waterway.
But Iran insisted that it controls the strait – and on Monday fired missiles and drones at military and commercial ships, according to the US.
