Can Vaccines Be Trusted: https://youtu.be/1l0f0NugUMk

The Irish Border has always been contentious. The Brexit negotiations sought to ensure that peace would continue on the border and when they were successful, no-one probably expected it to be undone by vaccines. In this video we explain the UK EU vaccine dispute & how it almost ended up closing the Irish Border entirely.

Really stupid topic to make video on. Since vaccines save lives and Zeneca failed to deliver them, you try to make the case that they had the rights? Zeneca kept failing in delivering vaccines after that initial delay so arguing on this topic is pointless.

The EU exports 41 million doses to non EU countries then moans it doesn't have enough. Also, the EU member states have an abysmal vaccination rate.

The EU have been made to look like total twats. The vaccine is perfectly good for over 65s….Eusula is responsible for a lot of European deaths…shame on her, she will burn in hell.

The EU did NOT trigger Article 16, only threatened to do it (and btw, the UK gov did as much twice for months in a row). Why are not UK's gov threats of art 16 not mentioned.

TLDR. There are many inaccuracies on this reporting.

New information have arise since the publication of this video, but still there is a substantial amount of inaccuracies.

The UK has actually signed its contract with the UK one day AFTER the EU. The AZ supply chain of the EU includes the labs located in UK as shown in the contract. The UK contract has not even been published yet…

The best bit was France and Germany saying "oh over 65's wouldn't be using the oxford vaccine anyways" all to save face because the EU had fucked itself over a barrel and couldn't get any. Can't get it? BAH we didn't need it anyways it's useless. 10/10

Hmm EU acting a little spoilt here. :/ okay the UK could be nice and fair? But we already way into vaccination. We gotta worry about the second dose so that we don't waste it. Perhaps though there is a greedy politician behind this wanting to restore some of the governments name for the abhorrent mess that is the uks handling of covid. I think perhaps we could be a fairer, but don't think in a court of law that will really be defined. EUs trade embargo of vaccines is fair though. They gotta look after themselves first.

The EU is very vindictive and has a very tit-for-tat attitude.

All EU members are countries in of themselves and the government of each should be trying to secure their own supply of the vaccine to treat their own jurisdiction as soon as possible. Not waiting and holding everything up just because some have gotten more than others…just get on with it as quickly as possible to stop more people dying from the EU putting their fingers into everything and making more rules and hoops to jump through. It's getting so annoying this tit-for-tat attutude.

The average Brit in the comments: The UK fucks up constantly for 5 years, one mistake after another lie after another threat after another scandal… then the EU makes one (objectively bad) mistake and everyone in the comments: "I voted remain but now I think Brexit is correct"
The people writing these comments are a little…. idiotic.

  23. @Arthur-lq7ix

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

I'm a Brit living on continental Europe (Germany to be exact), and it's quite astounding to see how the European media has almost completely hushed this up by giving it almost no attention. In Germany there has been a bit of coverage (but focusing on von der Leyen because she is pretty unpopular here), but there has been absolutely no coverage in France. If you talk to the average French or German about this whole fuck up by the Commission they won't have a clue what you're talking about.
It's almost like a form of censorship in a way because the media have chosen not to cover something that, at the end of the day, is actually pretty major and explosive. Despite the fact that I fucking hate Brexit and it's a pain in the bloody arse, I can't really get over just how messed up this is, especially after the EU always claimed the moral high ground in Brexit talks, saying how important it was to protect peace in Northern Ireland and essentially preaching to the UK. It's completely hypocritical and with this error of judgement on Article 16 and the stroke of a pen, the EU has now forfeited any claim to the moral high ground in almost any sense of the word. Absolutely shambolic and I think it's shameful that it isn't being reported in the European media.
I am completely pro-EU but this is REALLY testing my faith.

  24. @irishmadcat6283

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

All of the vaccination distribution should being done via the WHO. A 40 year old low risk person like myself in Ireland does not need it before an 85 years in Serbia or an asthmatic in Mali.

  25. @allisondoak9425

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

Maybe if the EU and the UK backed the people’s vaccine at the WTO there would be no issue

  26. @Lycanite

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

I voted remain but after this and also the Article 13 copyright nonsense, I'm starting to like Brexit, seems I was very wrong.

    UK: We want to leave
EU: Okay, leave, no trade or travel for you

UK Company: We aren’t going to give you this trade
EU: This is not how you play the game

  29. @andreisandu2639

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

So I did a bit of reading into the data. The clinical trials conducted on the AstraZeneca vaccine have been reported on in The Lancet. The participants were aged 18-55 for most of them, with an exception of the trial in South Africa, where the participants were aged 18-65. AstraZeneca can say whatever they want, the data doesn't lie: they don't know how effective their vaccine is for over 65-year-olds. They're lying if they claim otherwise, and they should know better if they claim to be scientists!

  30. @CallerNumberNine

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

You frame this whole vissue as EU Vs UK, and try to distract with an us vs them narrative. Yes the UK benefits from AstraZeneca's actions here, but the contry is not a direct party to the dispute. AZ signed contracts saying they would meet X targets for delivery, explicitly laid out it's manufacturing sites, and included clauses saying that no other contractual obligations would impact it's ability to fulfil. AZ are choosing to sell doses to the UK which they've already sold to the EU, and they're doing it because the UK taxpayer is paying 7 times as much per dose as the EUs. It will be interesting to learn if the UK contract always had these supply numbers in them or if AZ managed to find extra capacity to sell its identical, much more lucrative UK vaccines just as it's ability to supply the EU dropped to a quarter of expected.

  32. @indianajones4699

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

The EU trying to bully the UK yet again. They used the Irish border as a contentious issue for allowing Brexit and as soon as it works in our favour they try to stop it; even when it comes to Covid vaccines. Disgraceful behaviour. Brexit was definitely the right decision. These unelected EU officials are a law unto themselves.

  33. @pixelveteran

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

It's a free trade organisation we joined to make trading easier and more profitable. This issue is nothing to do with why most of the original countries joined the E.U and is a clear example of the organisation overstepping it's mark. Surprisingly giving me some empathy for Brexit

  34. @christinamackay9210

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

On a completely different note, will you do a video on Myanmar?

  35. @crizzhutch1066

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

I voted remain, but seeing how EU has acted since then. Especially with how slow they've been over covid-19, I'm now glad we're out.

My gran and parents have been vaccinated already, how many can say that in EU today?!

I do belive you misrepresented some things here. It's not just that vaccines produced in the UK should be distributed in the EU. It's that vaccines produced in Belgium were exported to the UK as the UK had an issue. Secondly the reason the EU holds more power over the vaccine is that they did not just purchase vaccines. The EU directly invested funds into the development of the vaccine, only to see those vaccines be exported to the UK. Which all things considered with it being a pandanamic and all could be considered a dick move.

  42. @Martyntd5

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

The MASSIVE omission in this video, is any attempt to explain how banning EU manufactured vaccines (Pfizer BioNTech) into the UK, helps the EU get vaccines from AstraZeneca? You have made no attempt to explain how one relates to the other.

It's kind of important, as the argument is between the EU and AZ, a vaccine manufacturer. The EU's argument with AZ has nothing to do with the UK. So why block Pfizer from fulfilling it's contractual obligations to the UK? It's a really shitty attempt to blackmail AZ, where the victims will be the British people who have nothing to do with this …and attempt to 'blame' the UK gov, whose only crime in this is to be 3 months faster off the blocks.

  43. @aonary5382

    December 27, 2023 at 10:14 pm

This was a dumb move by the EU, generally speaking the world has alot of respect for both the EU and the UK but since Brexit the respect for the UK has drastically declined whilst the EU has maintained its respect.
Brexit is seen as a ridiculous and stupid move fueled by racism, nationalism, and delusions of grandeur….this move by the EU may make some rethink their stance, let's hope they learn from this
