Watch the moment the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, mocks the leader of the Green Party, Zack Polanski, as he answers a question in Urdu during the London Assembly.

This comes after Mr Polanski spoke Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, in a video as part of his campaign to become the next MP for Holborn and St Pancras – the constituency where former Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer stood down.

According to a translation, provided by Lord Khan’s office, he said: “Peace be upon you. I was worried that you would ask the question in Urdu, but you asked your question in English.

“I’ll be spending time in Holborn and St Pancras this week and I’m going to be there. Maybe we will meet there.”

Police in Paris have raided the Arab World Institute as part of a widening investigation linked to the explosive Epstein Files.

Former French education minister and former president of the institute, Jack Lang, is under investigation for alleged laundering of proceeds from tax evasion. The inquiry reportedly focuses on an offshore company established in the US Virgin Islands, allegedly connected to Lang’s daughter and late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Lang strongly denies the allegations, calling them “baseless.” His daughter, Caroline Lang, has also denied receiving funds or knowledge of being named in Epstein’s will.

The case adds to the growing international fallout from the Epstein Files, which continue to implicate high-profile figures across Europe and beyond. Among those previously connected:
