Two crew members have been killed after two helicopters collided mid-air in Greece while battling wildfires.

A Danish pilot and a Greek fire service liaison officer lost their lives. A British pilot and another Greek co-ordinator on the second helicopter survived.

Video of the incident some 65 km (42 miles) west of the capital Athens shows one of the two Bell helicopters hitting the rotors of the other, which bursts into flames and crashes in a ravine. The other aircraft made an emergency landing.

Wildfires have broken out in Greece this week, leading to mass evacuations. Other European states, including France and Spain, have also suffered devastating blazes during prolonged heatwaves.

The two leased Bell helicopters collided while taking part in efforts to tackle a large wildfire burning on the Attica-Boeotia border.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his “deepest sorrow” over the accident.

Late at night, police are called about a man behaving strangely with heavy suitcases on a bridge in Bristol.

When officers arrive minutes later, he has vanished – but the suitcases are revealed to contain human remains.

The bridge is closed, a crime scene is erected, and a manhunt begins as investigators discover a twisted tale of sex, lies, and murder.

Today, there has been more criticism from victims’ families over plans to release some prisoners early.

Under the policy, due to begin in October, thousands of prisoners will be eligible to be released part way through their sentences. Ministers announced last night that prisoners guilty of rape, serious child sex offences and grooming will be excluded. Adam is joined by home and legal affairs correspondent Dominic Casciani and Pia Sinha former prison governor and chief executive of the Prison Reform Trust.
