World Cup captains will not wear OneLove armband due to Fifa ‘sanctions’ – BBC News

Published

on

England, Wales and other European nations will not wear the OneLove armband at the World Cup in Qatar because of the threat of players being booked.

The captains of nine countries, including England’s Harry Kane and Gareth Bale of Wales, had planned to wear the armband to promote diversity and inclusion.

A joint statement from seven football associations said they could not put their players “in a position where they could face sporting sanctions”.

“We are very frustrated by the Fifa decision which we believe is unprecedented,” the statement read.

“We were prepared to pay fines that would normally apply to breaches of kit regulations and had a strong commitment to wearing the armband.

“However, we cannot put our players in the situation where they might be booked or even forced to leave the field of play”, the statement added.

At this point, they just want to spite Qataris and show them that they don't care about the county's traditions and values. Qatar isn't a country notoriously known for abusing LGBT people. Even if you want to look at it from a democracy perspective, the vast majority of their citizens wouldn't want this, who the hell do these people think they are trying to shove their values down others' throats just because they had the audacity to host the world cup. The Emir of Qatar said everyone's welcome when asked if gay people will be allowed, but it's clear as day these disgusting people just want to agitate the locals as opposed to advocating gay rights….just piss off!

normally God has emphasized and repeated it in the Koran, do not let humans make damage, or destroy something that has been created properly, according to its function, so if there has been a destruction of that balance, just wait for the consequences

Israel supports US-Iran ceasefire but says it ‘does not include Lebanon’ | BBC News

Published

on

Israel has said it supports suspending strikes on Iran, but added the two-week ceasefire “does not include Lebanon”.

A statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel “supports President Trump’s decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks subject to Iran immediately opening the straits and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel and countries in the region”.

It then said: “The two-weeks ceasefire does not include Lebanon”.

Iran and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who helped negotiate the ceasefire, both have said the deal covers Lebanon, where Israel has been fighting the Iranian proxy Hezbollah.

US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran, if shipping is allowed to move through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump claims King Charles ‘agrees’ Iran shouldn’t have nuclear weapon in banquet speech | BBC News

US President Donald Trump said King Charles believes Iran must not have a nuclear weapon, telling a White House banquet: “Charles agrees with me – even more than I do”.
