Who are Ukraine’s men who don’t want to fight in the war? – BBC News
Ukraine defence officials have described claims of corruption within its army recruitment as “shameful and unacceptable”.
It comes as President Volodymyr Zelensky recently sacked every regional head of recruitment in Ukraine after widespread allegations against officers in the system, including bribe-taking and intimidation.
Ukraine constantly needs to replace the tens of thousands who’ve been killed or injured in the war.
However, some men don’t want to fight. Thousands have left the country, sometimes after bribing officials, and others are finding ways of dodging recruitment officers.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Bbc propagates gender equality, leftism, femenism and defends females from any kind of sexism, but demands from men to go and die at war, or just does not treet Ukrainian males as victims of sexism and discrimination, when they are getting forced to die against their own will just because they are MEN. They treat them as they must be killed at war just because they are men, but they are AVOIDING it. How stupid. It is like Iranian females will not be called as victims of discrimination and sexism, but just avoiders from obligations. So females traditional obligations – sexism, but males – not.

It is inhuman to ask polish minority to fight for Ukraine. This land was stolen. As well for Romanian minority. They want to be part of Poland and Romania. North Bucovina and south Basarabia were stolen from Romania. Why should they fight for the invader?

Ukrainian man here. I usually don't comment but this is an exception. I urge you to not believe what our and russian politicians say. Both parties lie. Our own government does in fact oppress us. The law does not work here. The whole government is corrupted and a lot of them have become millionaires during this war. Men 18-60 years are not allowed to leave the country despite the fact that there is no such law in our constitution. The "laws" that our governments makes do not have real legal base. We are in prison here, just like people of North Korea. Ukrainians want peace. We want the war to end. We don't want to surrender but we also don't want more of our brothers and sisters getting killed. However, the war will continue since the current government of Ukraine will rather choose to have all of Ukrainian people killed in this war than try to accomplish real peace. The problem is, even though our politicians are stealing all the money that other countries provide for humanitarian and other types of aid, I can assure you if not international help and Ukrainian soldiers I wouldn't be alive right now. Please do NOT fall under russian propaganda and continue to support Ukraine. But while supporting us, especially if the money are involved – MONITOR THE MONEY. DO NOT BELIEVE THEY WON'T BE STOLEN BY A CORRUPTED POLITICIAN. Thank you and please stand with Ukraine. The majority of us also hates our own government. Not only men aren't allowed to leave the country, we are also getting hunted here by those who want to get us drafted (read = get paid lots of money for a ukrainian man in their army department, then get more money after we are killed on the frontier) and the government constantly makes the situation worse by increasing taxes and making unacceptable laws that harm their citizens but benefit the political elites. Let's not forget the hypocrisy of the politicians who live lavishly while ordering common people to die "For Ukrainian Freedom". We are not free and never were. If your country is invaded by an aggressor then as a man you should not have to be told to sign up and drive the invaders out. I see young Ukrainian men here in Ireland walking around quite capable of fighting against the Russian terrorists in the Kremlin. If they’re physically incapable then yes they should not be drafted. The Irish never gave up and that included the women, it’s cowardice in my books.

The reason Ukraine doesnt stand a chance and being swallowed by Russia. On the other hand look at the NVA in Viet Nam. Those people fought tooth and nail and got their country back. I read that after the VC rode triumphantly into Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh) they changed every single street name into what it is now. Images of south vietnamese desperately fleeing including the US military is testament.

I’m so pleased that so many comments are for saving the lives of young men, who deserve to live a full life. Peace should be gained first. The world would unit if they believed Russia was the true aggressor with full sanctions and isolation. But most nations know how the USA government is manipulated by the business elite to siphon money from the people of all nations into their bank accounts.
