Anne Frank betrayal suspect identified after 77 years – BBC News
A suspect who may have betrayed Anne Frank and her family to the Nazis has been identified in a new investigation.
The Jewish diarist died in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945, aged 15, after two years in hiding.
A team of historians and other experts said Arnold van den Bergh, a Jewish figure in Amsterdam, probably “gave up” the Franks to save his own family.
Anne Frank’s diary, published after her death, is the most famous first-hand account of Jewish life during the war.

Social media giant Meta has agreed to a $18bn (£13.3bn) settlement with US states and territories to resolve claims that Facebook and Instagram harmed children.
A California judge approved the settlement, which Meta must pay to 48 states, plus the District of Columbia and three US territories, marking the company’s largest payment over child safety litigation to date.
Meta will also implement a host of changes aimed at better protecting kids online, which the states had demanded, including default daily time limits and night-time blocks.
Meta has denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement and said on Wednesday that the payment it agreed to “will be distributed in annual instalments over a 10-year period”.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has told the BBC that PC Andrew Harper’s killers will remain behind bars as he announces changes to the early release scheme aimed at easing prison overcrowding.
In an exclusive interview with BBC Breakfast, Burnham said anyone convicted of manslaughter will be excluded from changes brought in under the Sentencing Act, which would have made the killers eligible for early release.
Burnham said extra prison spaces would be created by deporting “hundreds” of foreign prisoners and releasing some inmates serving indefinite sentences.

These are all theories and guesses, no one knows exactly what happened so don't pin this on the man. We have technology now but it only takes a rumor, a whisper, or someones "account" that can never be substantiated. The truth is great to know but it can also destroy when realized.

There is a similarity to the character Soloman Tauber in Fredrick Forsyth's The Odessa File, who TATTOOED his novel sized story in his sole, under arms, etc. Israelis hire Fredeick Forsyth like writers to make up stories to shamelessly gain sympathy from the SO-CALLED sufferings of their own species. People need to read the book The Betrayal of Anne Frank. Otto Frank found out who had betrayed his family, understood why he did it and worked through forgiving the guy. He took that secret with him to his grave knowing full well there would be repercussions to the man’s family if he was identified. When urged by reporters to reveal the name, he remained tight lipped and maintained that what was important now was that he had forgiven the guy and that was all the public needed to know. If he was able to move forward, surely we can too, knowing that this man’s decision did not come lightly? Otto understood that, eventually, after going through his own stages of grieving.
Even now, since that book was published, the man’s descendants are having to grapple with this hard truth while outsiders are labelling their ancestor as a “traitor” without fully understanding what he had to do to keep his own family alive 😢
