During a speech earlier in the day, President Trump had asked his supporters to march towards the Capitol in protest. They breached the building while Congress was certifying Joe Biden’s win.
Protesters made it all the way to the Senate floor and the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Seven people have died after a passenger boat capsized near northern Cyprus.
Search and rescue operations are under way to find 23 people missing, said Ünal Üstel, prime minister of the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
He says 267 people were on board the vessel when it capsized, and 237 have been rescued.
The boat left from the northern Cypriot port of Kyrenia at 11:58 local time (09:58 BST) and officials said it capsized around four nautical miles into its journey to Turkey.

Ukraine’s progress against Russian forces in its southern regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia has been far more limited than its successes in the north-east.
Both sides come under regular fire as they rely heavily on artillery to push forward.
The crackdown on people who do not support Russian rule in occupied areas is rising, with soldiers going door-to-door to check on who lives in each house and whether they could be drafted into fighting for Russia.

The government has said it will exercise “extreme caution” over lifting the lockdown. Ministers stress it will be a gradual process, not a single leap to freedom. It comes as the Prime Minister prepares to address the nation, to set out the next phase in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile major airlines have called for clarity after being told that the government will bring in a 14-day quarantine for anyone arriving in the UK, from any country apart from the Republic of Ireland.
The transport secretary Grant Shapps has called on people to walk and cycle to work, once the lockdown restrictions are eased in England. He said it was a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to transform the way people get around.
Senior clerics are urging the government to act cautiously before allowing places of worship to reopen. All churches, mosques, synagogues and temples closed their doors almost two months ago.

Trump said " we will walk to the Capitol building and CHEER ON OUR BRAVE SENATORS MEN AND WOMAN" . President Trump did not call for violence. His indictment by Biden is a political assassination of Trump which there is no doubt has continued since Trump walked down the escalator in 2016. It is very sad for the world leading country of Democracy that the weaponisation of the federal government and DOJ was allowed to take place..thanks to the Democrats.😢

That day and the days before corrupt Trump was instigating the riots that took 5 lives and countless fear and injuries. Trump created the chaos and he didnt care what the good officers sworn to protect our nation. Trump is insane and evil and he will do it again. The truth isn't always glorious, but it still should be told. Why have a rally right down the road from a building and tell people to march towards it to "stop the steal?" That rally might not have turned into a riot if the speakers hadn't incited it. When Trump told anyone to resort to violence at any of his rallies, even as he promised to pay their legal fees, he incited them to violence then too. He should be ashamed of himself! It was a riot incited by the speakers at the rally.

I know this was years ago, but everyone seems to leave out the most important part of Trump's speech where he says "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the capitol building to Peacefully and Patriotically make your voices heard". Where anyone ever got that he incited violence or is an "insurrectionist" is beyond me.
