Social media giant Meta has agreed to a $18bn (£13.3bn) settlement with US states and territories to resolve claims that Facebook and Instagram harmed children.
A California judge approved the settlement, which Meta must pay to 48 states, plus the District of Columbia and three US territories, marking the company’s largest payment over child safety litigation to date.
Meta will also implement a host of changes aimed at better protecting kids online, which the states had demanded, including default daily time limits and night-time blocks.
Meta has denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement and said on Wednesday that the payment it agreed to “will be distributed in annual instalments over a 10-year period”.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has told the BBC that PC Andrew Harper’s killers will remain behind bars as he announces changes to the early release scheme aimed at easing prison overcrowding.
In an exclusive interview with BBC Breakfast, Burnham said anyone convicted of manslaughter will be excluded from changes brought in under the Sentencing Act, which would have made the killers eligible for early release.
Burnham said extra prison spaces would be created by deporting “hundreds” of foreign prisoners and releasing some inmates serving indefinite sentences.

Trump said " we will walk to the Capitol building and CHEER ON OUR BRAVE SENATORS MEN AND WOMAN" . President Trump did not call for violence. His indictment by Biden is a political assassination of Trump which there is no doubt has continued since Trump walked down the escalator in 2016. That day and the days before corrupt Trump was instigating the riots that took 5 lives and countless fear and injuries. Trump created the chaos and he didnt care what the good officers sworn to protect our nation. Trump is insane and evil and he will do it again. He doesnt give a damn about what he put everyone through. Its unbelievable what he put so many good Americans through. The FBI needs to investigate and find out who he talked to so that his madness was a success. Trump will do this again but next time his madness will be so much worse. He is dangerous. The truth isn't always glorious, but it still should be told. Why have a rally right down the road from a building and tell people to march towards it to "stop the steal?" That rally might not have turned into a riot if the speakers hadn't incited it. When Trump told anyone to resort to violence at any of his rallies, even as he promised to pay their legal fees, he incited them to violence then too. He should be ashamed of himself! It was a riot incited by the speakers at the rally.

I know this was years ago, but everyone seems to leave out the most important part of Trump's speech where he says "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the capitol building to Peacefully and Patriotically make your voices heard". Where anyone ever got that he incited violence or is an "insurrectionist" is beyond me.
