Israel does have a vibrant opposition party within their government. Which is an indicator of their tolerance and democracy. The same cannot be said of Gaza the West Bank or even any of Israel's Arab neighbors. Israel's liberals are more liberal than America's liberals. It seems that it is hamas's goal to drive these liberals toward Likud. October 7. Disdain for humanity does not reward humaneness.

You know Israel kind of tried your strategy. They conquered the Gaza territory in war but didn't want to mess with it. As I understand they offered it back to Egypt but their government declined to exercise governance. So to avoid conflict, they mandatorily removed all Jews from the Gaza territory. What happened? Hamas "won" an election and there hasn't been one since 2007 or so. They promptly eliminated the leaders of the opposition terrorist parties imported weapons to kill Jews with and began building rockets and tunnels. They received about 18 billion with a "b" in aid since then. About half went into the pockets of their leaders who live lavishly in Qatar. Most of the rest went into weapons, some into unrwa schools to indoctrinate little kids to hate Jews. Unrwa employs Hamas members to run the schools. Meanwhile, 52 sympathetic Arab states in the UN run cover for them constantly. Nobody's had such a good deal in the UN since the Soviets lost their satellites. Maybe you don't remember any of that. The bottom line is it's hard to just say screw it to the war when one party won't quit. At this point, I don't think even the most liberal Jews are very open to the two state solution anymore. The Hamas attack on October 7th was just so horrific that even the liberal Israelis just can't trust the Arabs anymore.

I haven't been watching much BBC lately, but I can see from this interview that this reporter at least has become a propagandist for Hamas. Shameful, what has happened to this network? Asking tough questions is a good thing for journalists. Sticking to a narrative talking over your guest and repeating propaganda from one side of a conflict is not journalism. Could your reporter just pretend to be objective?

Israel is a terrorist state… Full of lies and propaganda… It's ridiculous how they use slogans to justify their crimes… If you are carpet bombing people how are they using women and children as shields?? Also what was the reason for bombing Palestinians live stock.. e.g. chicken farms… If Israel is a victim then why the Israeli ex military personnel breaking silence on the crimes of Israel.. We the American people can see right through their bullshit…

Interesting that the rockets were removed prior to the Israeli attack per the UN inspectors. This of course lets people like this lady claim that rockets were hidden in the schools without it being an outright lie but knowing she is manipulating the truth. How can anyone trust Israel after hearing stuff like this?

They have a predictable flow chart of excuses and justifications for killing children and civilians:

Hamas was hiding weapons there, Hamas is using children as shields , Palestinians love death over life ,We are just defending Israeli citizens , War is terrible and civilian casualties always occur, All militarys make mistakes. When will someone just man up and say yeah we went after every target we could to make as much terror impact as possible?

"We spoke to the man who run these schools"   UNWRA?  That explains it all.

  27. @donnyglass2854

    January 14, 2024 at 2:21 am

Sorry, but she's lying. Israel is not doing everything they can to not harm these children. The Dahiya Doctrine specifically states that Israel will target civilians on purpose with the hope that they will turn on Hamas or Hezbollah. It's not entirely Hamas and Hezbollah putting civilians in harms way like they would like you to believe. It's a military strategy that Israel has developed. It's despicable and any human being with a heart cannot support this. Start questioning what you have been told about this situation becuase the people of Palestine and anybody that is ever put in a situation like this deserve better.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.

Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Clive Myrie presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Sarah Smith in Washington.
