A protester has just gatecrashed Sepp Blatter’s news conference and thrown money at him. Fifa president Sepp Blatter was forced to halt a news conference when it was interrupted by a man who stood in front of him and addressed journalists, before throwing a pile of banknotes over his head. Mr Blatter was due to announce his plans to reform the organisation, which has been in crisis since seven of its officials were arrested in a US corruption investigation.

Fifa presidents are hilarious. He literally thought he was in danger from the money. Like it had poison on it. Shows exactly how high he regards himself in his position. It's pathetic really. Just as pathetic as FIFA and it's corruption.

White Idiots, illiterate imbecile Italian mafiarism people, so you feel it is okay for an extremely wealthy footballer like osimwen to assault poor people like us, and you take side with him. You are of the devil men, scallywag fools who plays negative and illegal football. How can the most vulnerable black Africans be the ones assaulting children of the richest politicians. By just saying Maradona died, and people celebrate by dying for osimwen. That's surely no African style S.A. CAF President fel

  27. @tomscott4438

Blatter was so corrupt he was blinded by his own lies. He used the money and power of FIFA to buy influence and votes, knowing full well the money would never go anywhere but the pockets of corrupt officials. Giving money to a thief and claiming you have no idea or responsibility to know or care where it went, is next-level hypocrisy. FIFA is a rotted, corrupt, blight upon the game.

You absolute liar, your part of the reason why football is corrupt, if anything if North Korea had bribed you like Qatar did, you would have been licking your lips and would have awarded the World Cup to them for 2026 if you were still president after 2015, don’t make us out to be fools and think that we’re stupid by saying that money has nothing to do with football, I hope you never work for any footballing organisation ever again, Ever!!!

Four soldiers killed after major fire at Canadian military base | BBC News

Published

on

Four members of the Canadian military have died and dozens were injured in a major fire at a base in the province of Alberta on Saturday.

Addressing the nation on Sunday from Ottawa, Prime Minister Mark Carney described it as “one of the worst tragedies for the forces on Canadian soil in peacetime”.

The fire broke out at about 16:00 local time (22:00 GMT) on Saturday at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, one of the country’s busiest military training bases, and is now contained. Its cause is still unclear, but officials said it did not appear tied to “terrorist activity”.

Albania’s anti-government demonstrations continue for fourth day | BBC News

Published

on

Protesters and anti-riot police have clashed in Albania’s main cities in scenes not witnessed for decades.

Government buildings have been attacked, as have some private businesses.

The country’s capital Tirana has seen months of protests from an anti-government “Flamingo” movement, but the clashes have now spread to the main cities of Durrës, Shkodër, Lezhë and Vlora in the west, Gjirokastër in the south and Korçë in the east.

The new demonstrations were announced as a student movement, ostensibly demanding action by the government to help with the high cost of education fees and books – and the higher cost of living.

Trump ‘completely wrong’ to restrict support for Ukraine, Italian minister tells BBC | BBC News

Published

on

Italy’s defence minister has said it was a “complete mistake, a major mistake” for the US to limit access to satellite systems and intelligence used by Ukraine to defend itself against Russian attacks.

Guido Crosetto warned in a BBC interview that any such move by US President Donald Trump’s administration “makes absolutely no sense” and risked prolonging Russia’s full-scale invasion rather than helping to bring peace. Trump has denied asking for satellite access to be suspended.

Crosetto’s comments continue Italy’s sharpening criticism of the US.
