FlyDubai latest: ‘Brawl between pilots’ sparks terror fears as Tel Aviv bound flight makes landing

Published

on

BREAKING: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement to the public on Wednesday afternoon following the suspected hijacking incident involving a flydubai plane meant to land in Tel Aviv earlier in the day, confirming that one of the pilots had carried out a stabbing attack.

“All passengers are out of danger,” Netanyahu said. “The pilot who stabbed them has been arrested and is currently being questioned by the Saudi authorities. We are in close contact with the relevant authorities to ensure the continued safety of the passengers and their safe return to Israel.”

Fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a commercial flight bound for Tel Aviv after passengers helped restrain a pilot alleged to have tried to hijack the plane, with police suspecting the incident to be a terror attack.

Flydubai Flight FZ1073, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 180 people on board, diverted over Jordanian airspace towards Saudi Arabia after transmitting emergency signals.

Israeli authorities scrambled fighter jets amid concerns the aircraft could have been hijacked, following an altercation in the cockpit, according to Israeli officials and passengers.

A second Flydubai was also diverted, according to FlightRadar24, with Flight FZ1081 bound for Tel Aviv initially scheduled to return to Dubai, but is now back on course.

‘If you don’t control your borders, you don’t control your country!’

Former Australian Treasurer and former Australian Ambassador to the United States Joe Hockey joins Will Kingston on Fire at Will to discuss the economic and political challenges facing Britain and the wider West.

Hockey warns that governments are failing to live within their means, arguing that rising government debt and spending could leave future generations facing the consequences.

He also discusses the potential impact of AI and robotics on employment, claiming unemployment could rise significantly as businesses seek to reduce costs.

The former Treasurer also gives his views on immigration and border control, drawing on Australia’s experience, before discussing political fragmentation in Australia and the UK.

Hockey goes on to discuss Donald Trump, the war in Iran, the threat posed by China and Taiwan, and why he believes younger generations are increasingly concerned about the prospect of war.
