Can secret UK missile blueprints actually help Ukraine against Russia? | BBC Newscast
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham will hand over blueprints to Ukraine so Kyiv can build its own long-range missiles.
On a visit to Kyiv to meet with President Zelensky, the PM promised to keep up the pressure on Russia despite Moscow’s “outrageous threats”. Diplomatic correspondent James Landale is in the studio to discuss with Adam.
Plus, President Trump and Canada’s Mark Carney are in the midst of a trade war after negotiations between the two countries collapsed on Friday. Trump announced a 50% tariff on Canada goods, with Carney promising the same ‘dollar-for-dollar’.
How will this impact the US and Canadian economies? And what has the reaction been inside Canada and the US? Adam talks to chief Washington presenter Caitriona Perry, and presenter of CBC’s Front Burner podcast Jayme Poisson.

US flags lowered in Dolly Parton tribute | BBC News
Iconic country musician Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, her family announced on her social media.
“Sadness lies with us, not with Dolly,” Parton’s nephew Brian Seaver said in a video announcement.
In a seven-decade career, Parton won 10 Grammy awards, sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and wrote in excess of 3,000 songs.
Parton took her writing seriously, and considered herself a songwriter over everything else. “It’s my way of expressing myself,” she said. “It’s my therapy.”
She was also a savvy businesswoman who wasn’t afraid to make tough decisions. Armed with a quick wit and southern charm, she took control of her show business career that spanned more than 60 years.

Russia warns UK will pay for supplying drones to Ukraine | BBC News
Russia has warned the UK of “consequences” following confirmation that British-made drones were used in recent strikes on military and industrial targets in Russia.
In a statement, the Russian embassy to the UK accused Britain of “deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis”, adding that “the deeper its involvement in the conflict… the higher the price it will pay”.
It did not elaborate on the type of threat Moscow was considering.
Ukraine has stepped up attacks on Moscow and elsewhere deep inside Russia, particularly targeting oil refineries and logistics sites for its key online retailer Wildberries.
A spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) said they stood “shoulder to shoulder” with Ukraine.
