🪖4-ROUND WAR‼️ Prince Naseem vs Kevin Kelley | WBO Featherweight Boxing | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS

Published

on

Naseem Hamed 28–0 (26 KO) vs. Kevin Kelley 47–1–2 (32 KO), billed as Fists of Fire, was a professional boxing match contested on December 19, 1997 for the WBO featherweight championship.

After defeating Jose Badillo in October 1997, it was announced that British sensation Naseem Hamed would make his long-awaited American debut just two months later to take former WBC featherweight champion Kevin Kelley.

Hamed at the time was undefeated as a professional, sporting a 28–0 record and had become well regarded for his knockout power, with all but two of his fights having been won by way of knockout. Due to both his fighting style and flamboyant personality, Hamed had also quickly become one boxing’s most popular fighters and had become the highest paid featherweight in the sport earning over $12 million in purses and endorsements the year prior and HBO, who was to air the bout on its World Championship Boxing program, had both signed Hamed to an exclusive six fight, $12 million contract to air his fights and spent $1 million on a publicity campaign to promote Hamed prior to his fight with Kelley.

Kelley had lost the WBC featherweight title in early 1995 but had gone undefeated in 8 fights since and had picked up the less-regarded WBU version of the title in February 1996. Hamed angered Kelley, a New York native, with his trash-talk, claiming “I could have brought Kevin Kelley to my own backyard and beat him up there. But I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to come to his own backyard and bring him down in front of his own crowd.” Kelley responded “The first round I’m going straight for that mouth, I’ve been saving up everything for the bell.”

Hamed, who was also known for his flashy ring entrances in his native England, made a lengthy entrance for his US debut where he danced behind a screen to Will Smith’s “Men in Black” before entering the arena to Red Rat’s “Shelly Ann” on a fashion runway while confetti rained down from the ceiling before finally entering the ring with his trademark flip over the ropes.

🥊 Vitali Klitschko vs Derek Chisora | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | WBC Heavyweight Boxing |

Published

on

Vitali Klitschko 43–2 (40 KOs) vs. Derek Chisora 15–2 (9 KOs), billed as Showdown in Munich, was a professional boxing match that was contested between WBC heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko, and the WBC’s number 15 ranked contender, Derek Chisora.

After regaining the WBC title by stopping Samuel Peter after a four-year absence from the ring in 2008 Vitali Klitschko was looking to make an eighth consecutive defence of his crown.

Derek Chisora had been set to face Vitali’s brother Wladimir, on 11 December 2010, but Klitschko pulled out just days prior with a torn abdominal muscle. The rescheduled fight for 30 April 2011 was also cancelled so [Wladimir] Klitschko could fight David Haye on 2 July. With [Vitali] Klitschko due to fight Adamek, this left Chisora with no other option than to face his mandatory challenger for the British title, the upcoming Tyson Fury. Chisora’s 14-0 win streak ended at the hands of the undefeated Fury, who won via twelve round unanimous decision. Chisora then challenged for the vacant European heavyweight title against Finland’s Robert Helenius in Helsinki. The fight ended in a split decision victory for Helenius, which many observers felt was a robbery and that Chisora had won the fight.

Sources in Germany reported that Kltschko and Chisora were likely to fight on 18 February 2012 at the Olympiahalle in Munich. This was later confirmed on 12 December 2011 that Chisora would be Klitschko’s next opponent.

Chisora was heavily criticised for his behaviour at the weigh-in after slapping Klitschko across the face when the two went head-to-head during the staredown. More controversy ensued moments before the fight when he spat water in the face of Wladimir whilst in the ring before the pre-fight introductions

🥊Tim Bradley vs Juan Manuel Marquez | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | WBO Welterweight Title

Published

on

Timothy Bradley 30–0 (1) (12 KO) vs. Juan Manuel Márquez 55–6–2 (40 KO), was a professional boxing match contested on October 12, 2013, for the WBO welterweight championship. The bout held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on HBO Pay-Per-View.

In June 9, 2012, Timothy Bradley shocked the world with a controversial split decision victory over then-WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to take the title, in which he would go on to defend in his next and latest fight against Ruslan Provodnikov the following year. Bradley suffered immense damage and a concussion from Provodnikov’s punches in the fight and would go down in the twelfth and final round, but was able to beat his challenger in most of the 12 rounds to win a close unanimous decision in what was a candidate for Ring Magazine’s Fight of the Year.

6 months after Bradley won against Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez then stepped in against his rival on the night of December 8th. Marquez knocked Pacquiao down in the third round, but was knocked down in the fifth after touching the canvas. With 2:59 in the sixth round, Marquez landed a counter right hand on an aggressively charging Pacquiao to finally knock him out and complete the tetralogy in brutal fashion.

On June, promoter Bob Arum revealed that the fight would take place on October 12th in Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, with two-country media tours taking place on Beverly Hills, California and Mexico City following the announcement.

At the weigh-in on Friday, Bradley weighed in at 146 lbs, and Marquez weighed in at a career-high 144 1/2 lbs.
