GB News told how residents feel IGNORED by government as migrants move in to former army barracks

Published

This man has told GB News how he feels let down by the Government after former military bases near his home have been turned into housing for asylum seekers.

Speaking to Patrick Christys in Crowborough, Simon said he was disappointed that a facility that used to help the armed forces is now being used to house illegal immigrants.

He said: “Every time we ask a question, we get given the body swerve by the Government and the Home Office and all of the authorities, we don’t get straight answers.”

A Wealden District Council spokesperson said: “Wealden District Council understands that the situation at Crowborough Army Camp has caused concern and uncertainty for many residents. However, the council does not accept that it has failed to engage with residents.

“Since the Home Office announced plans to use the camp, the council has remained actively involved, seeking further information and clarity on behalf of residents and ensuring local views and concerns are represented.”

Watch the moment protesters hurl petrol bombs at police as violent clashes erupt in Albania. This comes as Italy has sent the military in to defend police and France and Portugal is engulfed in nationwide violence. Demonstrators have set fire to government buildings and banks and smashed shop windows as they demand the prime minister’s resignation. The student-led protesters are angry over alleged government corruption, a lack of job opportunities and poor education standards. Protests began in the capital, Tirana, last week before quickly spreading to other cities, with demonstrations now entering their seventh day. Riot police wearing gas masks have been deployed, as protesters and journalists were seen near a burning barricade on Monday.
