Across the globe birth rates are falling, populations are ageing and debates about parenthood have become intensely divisive.
In this video, we set out to understand why parenthood might no longer feel like the default option, why birth rates are falling faster in some places than others and what this trend could mean for our future.

Two wounded in shooting near White House, US media reports | BBC News
Two people have been wounded in a shooting near the White House, including a suspect and possible bystander, law enforcement sources tell the BBC’s US partner CBS News.
It appears a person shot at Secret Service agents unsuccessfully, and the agents returned fire, the sources say.
FBI director Kash Patel says the Secret Service is currently responding to the incident.

Negotiators for the US and Iran have agreed a framework of a deal that would extend their ceasefire for 60 days and launch negotiations on the future of Iran’s nuclear programme, US sources say.
The agreement comes amid continued strikes and accusations of ceasefire violations, with tensions still high across the region.
