‘Survivors are nothing more than pawns for political discourse’ | Epstein survivor speaks | BBC News
Warning: This video contains graphic sexual descriptions.
A woman who said she was drugged and raped by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has spoken publicly for the first time to BBC Newsnight about her ordeal.
The woman who the BBC refers to as Nicky, spoke to the BBC on condition of anonymity. She says she met the disgraced financier when she was 19 and working as a model.
She said that after she gave him a massage at his waterfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, he gave her a drink of water and she blacked out for hours, when she believes she was raped by Epstein.
Nicky said she felt encouraged to come forward by other survivors sharing their stories. She is now calling for the US Department of Justice to release all its remaining files on Epstein.
A spokesperson from the Department of Justice said: “As the Department of Justice has consistently said and has done since the January 30, 2026 publication of the Epstein files, if any member of the public, including victims, reported concerns with information in the pages, the Department would review, make any corrections and republish online…”
“As with all documents that have been flagged by the public, the Department is currently reviewing files within that category of the production. Should any document be found to have been improperly tagged in the review process and is responsive to the Act, the Department will of course publish it, consistent with the law.”

Trump says US will not lift Hormuz blockade until deal made with Iran | BBC News
The US will not lift its blockade on Iranian ports until a deal has been reached with Tehran, US President Donald Trump has said, amid continuing uncertainty over whether fresh talks to end the war will take place.
The blockade, which began a week ago, is “absolutely destroying Iran”, Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, adding his country was winning the conflict “by a lot”.
His comments come with the temporary US-Iran ceasefire set to end on Wednesday, but with no certainty over whether a second round of peace talks will go ahead in Pakistan.

119 people rescued in Nepal as death toll passes 1,000 with 4,000 missing | BBC News
119 more people have been rescued in Nepal following the deadly flash floods, according to the country’s armed forces.
It comes nearly a week after the disaster that hit both Nepal and neighbouring Tibet. The number of people known to have died in the disaster has passed 1,000, with more than 3,900 missing.
More than 600 of those missing are workers who are believed to be trapped in a vast network of mud-filled tunnels at hydropower sites along the Trishuli River.
The rescue operation is being led by an international team and Nepalese military personnel, with experts from India, Korea and Australia also involved.

Germany’s far-right AfD celebrates major victory in eastern state | BBC News
Germany’s far-right AfD is heading for a big victory in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, far ahead of its mainstream rivals, according to voting projections.
No far-right party has won control of a German state since World War Two, and governing at state level would mean powers over policing, local education and culture.
It is not yet clear if the AfD vote will be enough to take power in the state but the party says it has won a mandate to govern.
The far-right Alternative for Germany is forecast to win a record 44% of the vote, well ahead of the conservative CDU on 17.8%.
The AfD’s charismatic leader in the state, Ulrich Siegmund, said it was “sensational” and they wanted to start governing as soon as possible.
Saxony-Anhalt has a small population of 2.1 million and the AfD in the state is assessed by domestic intelligence as “right-wing extremist”, a classification rejected by Siegmund.
The AfD’s projected result is higher than earlier opinion polls suggested, and Siegmund along with joint national leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla were overjoyed as the news emerged.
“This isn’t just about Saxony-Anhalt,” Siegmund told supporters. “It’s a signal for the whole of Germany – a self-confident signal.”
Jane Hill presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Jessica Parker.
