Weight loss GLP-1 medications — like Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy — have gone global.
During the Super Bowl in California, a flurry of ads from drug manufacturers and tele-health companies implored viewers at home to “ask their doctor” about GLP-1s.
In just a few short years, GLP-1s have transformed the way we live, move, and eat, whether we take them or not. And access and demand are only increasing, as pill forms of the drugs come onto the market. But where did they come from? And how are they reshaping our world?
Asma Khalid speaks to Giles Yeo, a professor of molecular neuroendocrinology at the University of Cambridge, about the so-called weight loss revolution.

BBC News goes undercover to expose legal advisers charging migrants thousands of pounds to fabricate immigration claims, giving them fake cover stories.
Some migrants are being encouraged to pretend to be gay to claim asylum. They are advised to gather untrue evidence including supporting letters and photos at LGBT events, for their applications.
Others are encouraged to make false allegations of domestic abuse.
The investigation finds advisers exploiting migrants and abusing safeguards designed to protect those truly at risk.

UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has told Parliament the UK would ban the import of goods from Israeli settlements in the illegally occupied West Bank.
In the speech, he said the UK government “agrees” there is ethnic cleansing in areas of the West Bank, and that the Israeli government is turning a “blind eye”. Israel has responded by closing the British consulate in Jerusalem and banning 11 left-wing MPs from entering the country.
How much is this a change in UK policy toward Israel? Adam and Chris discuss with BBC international editor Jeremy Bowen.
Plus, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan say the couple were surprised to see a letter sent on behalf of King Charles clarifying they remained non-working royals after moving back to the UK. Royal correspondent Sean Coughlan is in the studio.
