Peter Mandelson has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The ex-US ambassador had been under investigation over allegations he shared market-sensitive government information with Jeffrey Epstein while a minister.

Lord Mandelson has not publicly commented in recent weeks on the Epstein files, but the BBC understands his position has consistently been that he has not acted in any way criminally and that he was not motivated by financial gain.

The US launched another round of air strikes against Iran on Saturday night, targeting its coastal surveillance and air defence facilities, US military officials said.

It comes after two US troops were killed in a missile and drone attack in Jordan on Friday night.

The US said it targeted Iranian military sites and Revolutionary Guards forces it blames for the attack.

Iran responded with drone strikes on two US bases in Kuwait, according to state media.

The latest escalation comes after a temporary ceasefire collapsed, with both sides exchanging attacks and tensions continuing to rise across the Middle East.

ICE agents kill two men in a week in Maine and Texas | BBC Americast

Published

on

In the space of one week, two men have been fatally shot by ICE agents in two different states. With limited footage of the incidents and suggestions that neither men were the initial targets of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, protesters are calling for investigations into their deaths.

The deaths of Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Maine – a 26-year-old Colombian national authorised to work in the US – and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston – a Mexican national who worked in the country as a builder for three decades – have sparked protests and calls for ICE to change how they operate.

Donald Trump has also weighed in, defending ICE agents on Truth Social, saying they are ‘doing a GREAT job’ and shouldn’t change how they apprehend suspects driving vehicles. But will these incidents have any impact on the administration’s immigration policies, particularly with midterm elections in November?

In this episode, Justin, Sarah and Anthony also discuss how the incidents in Maine and Houston are resurfacing questions about the progress of investigations into the shootings of US citizens Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti by ICE agents earlier this year.
