FlyDubai latest: ‘Brawl between pilots’ sparks terror fears as Tel Aviv bound flight makes landing

Published

BREAKING: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement to the public on Wednesday afternoon following the suspected hijacking incident involving a flydubai plane meant to land in Tel Aviv earlier in the day, confirming that one of the pilots had carried out a stabbing attack.

“All passengers are out of danger,” Netanyahu said. “The pilot who stabbed them has been arrested and is currently being questioned by the Saudi authorities. We are in close contact with the relevant authorities to ensure the continued safety of the passengers and their safe return to Israel.”

Fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a commercial flight bound for Tel Aviv after passengers helped restrain a pilot alleged to have tried to hijack the plane, with police suspecting the incident to be a terror attack.

Flydubai Flight FZ1073, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 180 people on board, diverted over Jordanian airspace towards Saudi Arabia after transmitting emergency signals.

Israeli authorities scrambled fighter jets amid concerns the aircraft could have been hijacked, following an altercation in the cockpit, according to Israeli officials and passengers.

A second Flydubai was also diverted, according to FlightRadar24, with Flight FZ1081 bound for Tel Aviv initially scheduled to return to Dubai, but is now back on course.

Andy Burnham unveiled a scheme to give first-time buyers in England a helping hand onto the property ladder, with further details set to be outlined in the Budget.

The Your First Home initiative was unveiled at the weekend and will give first-time buyers the chance to buy a new-build property with a 2.5% deposit, with the Government stepping in to lend them an extra 20% towards the cost.

People will be able to access equity loans with an initial interest-free period.

Developers will also be expected to make a contribution when signing up to the scheme, to help cover costs.

Labour ‘CONCERNED’ for Britain’s fuel supply as prices SOAR and Trump weighs export BAN

Published

Labour have expressed alarm over Britain’s fuel supply after Donald Trump signalled he may implement a diesel export ban.

Petrol prices in Britain have soared by 11p in a month to £1.74 a litre, while diesel has risen 15p in a month, now sitting just below £2. Drivers have been warned diesel could hit £3 a litre in the coming weeks.

Britain has only 42 days worth of diesel supply, leaving it particularly exposed. Canada stocks more than 3 and a half years’ worth, while Germany has more than a year’s supply. Out of similar countries, only Australia has less diesel, at 31 days’ worth.

Britain imports around half of its diesel and about a third of these imports come from the US. Donald Trump, vulnerable to political pressure ahead of the US midterms, is weighing up a diesel export ban to relieve price pressure on the domestic market.

Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said he was concerned.
