Christian Lacroix’s Spring/Summer 1996 collection, presented at Paris Fashion Week, emphasized rich fabric combinations and intricate surface treatments, with a focus on layered ornamentation and structured tailoring.

The collection worked through a palette of antique rose, gold, burgundy, and mushroom tones, often combining mismatched prints and contrasting textiles within a single look. Tailored jackets were paired with high-waisted trousers and knee-length skirts, while A-line dresses appeared in lightweight gingham constructions.

Evening and decorative pieces included sequined bustiers, sleeveless dresses, and blouses with voluminous or ruched sleeves, highlighting variation in proportion and sleeve construction. Fabrics such as brocades, sequins, and structured cottons were used to create contrast between softness and structure.

Accessories reinforced the collection’s decorative direction, including tinted sunglasses, platform sandals, beaded jewelry, peep-toe pumps, oversized bows, and statement hats. Hair was styled in sleek updos with smoky eye makeup, keeping the focus on garment detail and construction.
