Every second, a jumbo jet gulps down a can of fuel.

How Much Fuel Does a Jumbo Jet Burn per Second?

A jumbo jet burns about a gallon of fuel every second – one paint can. Across the Atlantic that adds up to two big tanker trucks, enough to drive your car around the Earth more than 20 times. But split between 400 passengers, each one burns about half of what they’d use driving alone.

How we got the numbers:
• Cruise burn ≈ 10–11 t of fuel per hour ≈ 3,300–3,600 gallons per hour ≈ about 1 gallon (3.8 l) per second – one paint can.
• New US car ≈ 27 mpg (EPA, model year 2024) → one gallon ≈ 25+ miles.
• Per minute ≈ 55–60 gallons (208–229 l); a home bathtub holds 30–60 gallons.
• London–New York ≈ 70 t of fuel ≈ 21,700–23,100 gallons (82,000–87,500 l); a large tanker truck holds 5,500–11,600 gallons → two big ones.
• 21,700 gallons × 25–27 mpg ≈ 540,000–585,000 miles; Earth’s circumference ≈ 24,900 miles → 21–23 laps.
• 747-400: typically 416 passengers in three classes → around 400.
• Per passenger ≈ 54–58 gallons; driving the same 3,460 miles alone at 27 mpg ≈ 127 gallons → about half.

รัฐบาล-เอกชนทั่วโลกเร่งปิดเว็บไซต์ หลังพบความพยายาม “แฮ็ก”นับล้านครั้งอาศัยรอยรั่วโค้ดโปรแกรมภาษาอินเตอร์เน็ต “PHP”

เกิดเหตุสะเทือนโลกอินเตอร์เน็ตไปทั่วโลก เมื่อเกิดความพยายาม “แฮ็ก” เว็บไซต์ บริษัทเอกชน และเว็บไซต์ของรัฐบาลทั่วโลก ทำให้ต้องปิดเว็บไซต์กันครั้งใหญทั่วโลก หลังจากเกิดรูรั่ว และช่องโหว่ที่สำคัญในภาษาโปรแกรม “PHP” ซึ่งเป็นรากฐานที่ใช้เขียนโค้ดอินเทอร์เน็ตเมื่อวานนี้ โดยทางด้านบริษัทคลาวด์ “คราวด์ไฟร์” ได้รายงานว่าเกิดการพยายาม”แฮ็ก” ขึ้นนับล้านๆครั้งหลังจากมีการพบช่องโหว่ดังกล่าว

การเร่งแก้ไขเกิดขึ้นหลังจากที่ รัฐบาลในยุโรปและอีกหลายที่ต้องรวมไปถึงบริษัทเอกชนต้อง ปิดเว็บไซต์เป็นการชั่วคราวเพื่อเป็นการป้องกันไว้ก่อนทันที โดยการปิดระบบฉุกเฉินนั้นได้เกิดขึ้นกับเว็บไซต์ ของธนาคาร สายการบิน บริษัทเดินรถไฟ บริษัทดูแลภาษี และบริการของรัฐบาล ตั้งแต่ญี่ปุ่น ไปถึงฟินแลนด์

ทั้งนี้ PHP คือกุญแจสำคัญของรากฐานภาษาที่เขียนโปรแกรมอินเทอร์เน็ตเช่นเดียวกับ HTML และ ไพธอน (Python) โดยนักพัฒนา PHP ได้ปล่อย “แพตช์” แก้ไขออกมาสำหรับช่องโหว่นี้แล้ว ซึ่งถูกค้นพบโดยใช้ AI และขอให้ผู้ใช้ “อัปเดตทันที”

ขณะที่ กลุ่มบริษัทโทรคมนาคม “โรเรนจ์” (Orange) ของฝรั่งเศสกล่าวว่าได้ระงับการเข้าถึงเว็บไซต์และแอปพลิเคชันที่ใช้ PHP บางส่วนชั่วคราวในหลายบริษัทในเครือเพื่อเป็นการป้องกันไว้ก่อน ส่วนทางด้าน บริษัท “เทนเซนท์ คลาวด์” (Tencent Cloud) หนึ่งในผู้ให้บริการคลาวด์คอมพิวติ้งรายใหญ่ที่สุดของจีน กระตุ้นให้ลูกค้าติดตั้ง PHP เวอร์ชันที่อัปเดตแล้ว

ทางด้าน “วาลตอรี” ผู้ให้บริการด้านไอทีของรัฐฟินแลนด์กล่าวว่าได้ดำเนินการติดตั้งแพตช์ความปลอดภัย PHP อย่างต่อเนื่องตลอดทั้งคืน และกำลังทยอยยกเลิกการบล็อกบริการเพื่อป้องกันไว้ก่อน หลังจากปิดบริการเว็บสาธารณะของรัฐบาลไปเมื่อวันก่อน

ทางด้าน ฮันนู นาวมาเนน ผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ของ วาลตอรี กล่าวในแถลงการณ์ “การกู้คืนบริการอาจใช้เวลาหลายวันหรือหลายสัปดาห์ เนื่องจากนอกจากการอัปเดตแล้ว ระบบยังต้องได้รับการทดสอบอย่างละเอียด”

ขณะเดียวกัน รัฐบาลเอเชียหลายแห่งสั่งให้ตรวจสอบความปลอดภัยทางไซเบอร์ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับช่องโหว่ PHP ในวันพฤหัสบดี อย่างเช่น กระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมของจีนกระตุ้นให้องค์กรและผู้ใช้ตรวจสอบระบบและอัปเกรดเป็น PHP เวอร์ชันที่ปลอดภัยล่าสุด นอกจากนี้ยังแนะนำให้เสริมสร้างการตรวจสอบความปลอดภัยทางไซเบอร์และเปลี่ยนบัญชี รหัสผ่าน และคีย์เมื่อจำเป็น

ส่วน เฟลิกซ์ คูห์เลนแคมป์ หัวหน้าฝ่ายความปลอดภัยของ “บิตคอม” (Bitkom) สมาคมอุตสาหกรรมดิจิทัลของเยอรมนี กล่าวว่า ผู้ให้บริการรายใหญ่หลายรายได้ดำเนินการอัปเดตไปแล้ว แต่สำหรับระบบไอทีที่ซับซ้อนนั้น การอัพเดตอาจต้องใช้เวลานานขึ้น
