Garbage Island: An Ocean Full of Plastic (Full Documentary)

Published

on

VICE sails to the North Pacific Gyre, collecting point for all of the ocean’s flotsam and home of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch: a mythical, Texas-sized island made entirely of our trash and a spot where currents spin and cycle, churning up tons of plastic into a giant pool of chemical soup, flecked with bits and whole chunks of refuse that cannot biodegrade.

But “Garbage Island” isn’t an island at all. It’s something much, much worse.

As if polluting an entire hemisphere’s worth of the ocean with plastic weren’t enough, we’ve also poisoned the food chain. Congrats, humanity. We’re screwed.

Hosted by Thomas Morton | Originally aired in 2008 on @VICE and rereleased here for the first time in full.

Vintage in Pills VIVIENNE WESTWOOD Spring 2003 Paris – Fashion Channel

Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2003 collection, titled Street Theatre, explored the concept of fashion as performance and spectacle in everyday urban life. The collection drew on Westwood’s longstanding engagement with punk heritage and street culture, translating these influences into garments that combined experimental tailoring, material juxtaposition, and asymmetrical construction.
