A Career in Banking – Lending Services Officer ANZ (JTJS62011)
The final ANZ career Lucian is learning about this week is with the lending services team. This is where the bank processes all loan documents that come from the branches and solicitors involved in assisting clients’ access bank loans or mortgages.
It’s a critical role as for many people, taking out a mortgage to buy a home is the biggest transaction they’ll ever make in their lives. The lending services officer plays an important part in making sure the process is done professionally, timely and is a good experience for the customer.
The lending officer role offers career advancement opportunity with the more complex loan transactions for businesses and the rural environment coming under the lending officer umbrella. Or, there are opportunities for advancement to assistant branch manager and branch manager roles.
For a career in lending services, you need to have achieved NCEA or equivalent and have good attention to detail, enjoy working in the team, good communication skills and if you want to advance, there will be plenty of opportunities with the ANZ as Lucian has discovered.

‘White lives matter!’ | Reform UK’s Robert Jenrick SLAMS Labour over Henry Nowak response
Reform UK MP Robert Jenrick has launched a fierce attack on the Labour government over its response to the murder of Henry Nowak, accusing ministers of failing to adequately address public concerns surrounding the case. Speaking during a heated political exchange, Jenrick argued that all victims deserve equal recognition and justice, declaring that “white lives matter just as much as anyone else’s.” His comments have reignited debate over policing, community relations, and how high-profile crimes are handled by government and law enforcement authorities.
During his criticism, Jenrick challenges the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood on what he described as inconsistencies in their approach to public safety and victim advocacy. He accused the government of being reluctant to confront difficult questions surrounding the circumstances of Henry Nowak’s death and the wider issues raised by the case. The remarks come amid growing political pressure on ministers following calls for greater transparency and accountability from campaigners, opposition politicians, and members of the public.
