Blues legend Albert King—known as “The Velvet Bulldozer”—redefined electric blues with his raw, instinctive, and aggressive playing style. Performing left-handed on his iconic Gibson Flying V (strung upside down), King created one of the most recognizable guitar tones in music history.
From classics like “Bad Luck Blues” and “I Get Evil” to his groundbreaking era with Stax Records, Albert King helped shape the modern blues guitar sound. Between 1968 and 1974, he released multiple charting hits, including “Born Under a Bad Sign”, written by William Bell and Booker T. Jones.
His signature style—wide string bends, minimal phrasing, and deep emotional tone—continues to influence generations of guitarists.
