Public show of support for NHS on 72nd anniversary – BBC News
The 72nd anniversary of the founding of the National Health Service has been marked across the UK with a nationwide round of applause.
There was appreciation for the work of NHS staff at a time of challenges unprecedented in its history.
Meanwhile the head of the NHS in England has said the pandemic has shone a “harsh spotlight†on adult social care, calling for it to be reformed and properly resourced within a year.
The government has said it intends to bring forward a long term plan.

The US has intercepted and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship attempting to get past its blockade of Iran’s ports, according to US President Donald Trump.
He said the ship was given “fair warning to stop” in the Gulf of Oman but refused, so the navy “stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine roomâ€.
Earlier it was confirmed that a US delegation led by the Vice President JD Vance will be In Pakistan for a new round of peace talks with Iran. However Iran has not confirmed that it will be participating in the talks.
Trump has again threatened to destroy Iran’s power plants and bridges if they do not reach a deal with the US, including reopening the strait of Hormuz to international shipping.
