The long fight to prosecute our father for rape – BBC News
Sisters Alex and Chyann were repeatedly raped by their father as children.
After their case was rejected three times by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), they found they had one last avenue to try to get justice.
In this video, they explain how the process and years of delays put a strain on their relationship.
A CPS spokesperson said: “An independent judicial review found that there was no change of approach in how the CPS prosecutes rape. No matter how challenging the case, whenever our legal test is met, we always seek to charge.
“We are determined to drive up the number of rape cases going to court. Too few victims are seeing justice done and we are working hard to change that.”

Today, there has been more criticism from victims’ families over plans to release some prisoners early.
Under the policy, due to begin in October, thousands of prisoners will be eligible to be released part way through their sentences. Ministers announced last night that prisoners guilty of rape, serious child sex offences and grooming will be excluded. Adam is joined by home and legal affairs correspondent Dominic Casciani and Pia Sinha former prison governor and chief executive of the Prison Reform Trust.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has shared a video of a street vendor being hunted by a drone before it exploded.
The man in the video verified by the BBC, 52-year-old street vegetable seller Yuriy, managed to survive the attack, but sustained shrapnel wounds and a concussion.
Russia has repeatedly denied intentionally targeting civilians.

PC Harper’s mother ‘devastated’ his killers set for early release despite revised plans | BBC News
The mother of PC Andrew Harper has told the BBC she is “devastated” two of his killers remain eligible for early release after the UK government revised plans to tackle overcrowding.
Prisoners who committed rape, grooming, and serious child sex offences will be excluded from the scheme for England and Wales, the government announced on Monday.
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he “wanted to go even further”, but that would not be possible without the prison system collapsing and putting the public “at much greater risk”.
PC Harper, 28, was killed in 2019 when he was dragged by a car down a country road as three teenagers fled the scene of a quad bike theft in Berkshire.
