Keir Starmer’s Labour ABANDONS Benefit Cuts Proposal After Backlash from Far-Left MPs

Published

on

Labour has scrapped its proposal to freeze Personal Independence Payments (PIP) after facing intense opposition from left-wing MPs, including Ed Miliband and Angela Rayner. The plan, originally backed by Rachel Reeves and Liz Kendall, was intended to cut billions from the UK’s growing welfare bill—set to exceed £100 billion by 2029.

Former aide to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Leon Emirali, joins the discussion on why Labour backed down, the future of welfare spending, and whether the government has the political will to tackle the growing crisis.
