What next for the war in Iran after Israeli elections? | BBC News

Published

on

Benjamin Netanyahu and Gadi Eisenkot – the two men hoping to be Israel’s next prime minister – have very different views of the war in Iran. With no clear winner at this stage, Israel’s next steps in the conflict are also uncertain.

Qatar said it has presented a new potential peace plan to Iran, but Tehran says the ideas are unacceptable.

Meanwhile there are fresh reports that the US is preparing to attack Iran after the midterm elections.

And the Houthis in Yemen claim Saudi-backed forces have killed at least 14 people in the north of the country, as the Houthis attack Aden airport in the south-west.

We hear from cyber researcher Ryan Austin, who discovered the PHP flaw, and ask our tech correspondent about the power and danger of AI.

Also in the Global News Podcast:

07:23 We hear from Arab-Israeli voters – also known as Palestinian citizens of Israel – as Israel prepares for its first general election since the Hamas attacks of 7th October 2023. That means small Arab-majority parties could hold the balance of power, depending on whom they decide to support.
