France has deployed mine countermeasure assets, including two minehunters, frigates, and a maritime patrol aircraft, to help secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. President Emmanuel Macron said the move supports the safe resumption of maritime traffic after the US-Iran memorandum of understanding reaffirmed freedom of navigation. France and the UK say they are ready to work with Oman and partners to protect one of the world’s most important shipping routes.
