Royal Style Meets a Mont Blanc Challenge 👑🏔️

Japan’s imperial family appears to be embracing a more modern approach to royal style.

Princess Kako has recently stepped out in two elegant looks that could easily have been worn by Catherine, Princess of Wales.

At the Akasaka East Residence in Tokyo, Kako met with a group of young reporters from Okinawa wearing a delicate lace dress by CELFORD.

Just a day earlier, she attended a ceremony sending off Japan’s delegation to the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, choosing a light-colored dress with a defined waistline.

The looks are polished, feminine, and distinctly contemporary.

Meanwhile, Belgium’s Prince Gabriel celebrated his 23rd birthday in a very different way — by climbing Mont Blanc.

The Belgian Royal House released photographs from his ascent, including images taken at the Albert I Refuge, named after his great-great-grandfather.

King Albert I was himself a passionate mountaineer and personally inaugurated the refuge in 1930.

Tragically, that passion ultimately cost him his life. In 1934, Albert I fell from a cliff at Marche-les-Dames and died at the age of 58.

Two royal generations, two very different ways of making a statement — elegance in Tokyo and adventure in the Alps.

Princess Kako is turning heads with elegant, contemporary fashion choices in Tokyo, while Belgium’s Prince Gabriel marked his 23rd birthday with an extraordinary Mont Blanc ascent.
