Ukraine denies Russian claim it killed more than 600 of its soldiers – BBC News

Published

on

Ukraine has labelled as “propaganda” a Russian claim that it killed hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers in an attack.

Moscow claimed, without providing any evidence, that a “mass missile strike” in the eastern city of Kramatorsk had killed more than 600 Ukrainian forces.

It said it was in retaliation for a Ukrainian attack on a Russian base that killed dozens of Russian soldiers on New Year’s Day.

But the Ukrainian military says this is untrue.

Ten months after a supposed ceasefire came into effect in Gaza, US President Trump’s peace plan for the strip has stalled.

More than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the ceasefire was announced last October, bringing the total number killed during the war to more than 73,000 according to the Hamas run Health Ministry in the strip.

But there are fears the actual number of deaths could be significantly higher.

The Red Cross said there are more than 5,000 people still missing in Gaza.

Israel does not allow journalists free access to the territory.
