Mohamed Al Fayed accused of multiple rapes by ex-Harrods staff | BBC News

Published

on

Five women say they were raped by former Harrods boss Mohamed Al Fayed when they worked at the luxury London department store.

The BBC has heard testimony from more than 20 female ex-employees who say the billionaire, who died last year aged 94, sexually assaulted them – including rape.

The documentary and podcast – Al-Fayed: Predator at Harrods – gathered evidence that, during Fayed’s ownership, Harrods not only failed to intervene, but helped cover up abuse allegations.

Harrods’ current owners said they were “utterly appalled” by the allegations and that his victims had been failed – for which the store sincerely apologised.

Trump: US has seized Iranian cargo ship on eve of peace talks | BBC News

Published

on

The US has intercepted and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship attempting to get past its blockade of Iran’s ports, according to US President Donald Trump.

He said the ship was given “fair warning to stop” in the Gulf of Oman but refused, so the navy “stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engine room”.

Earlier it was confirmed that a US delegation led by the Vice President JD Vance will be In Pakistan for a new round of peace talks with Iran. However Iran has not confirmed that it will be participating in the talks.

Trump has again threatened to destroy Iran’s power plants and bridges if they do not reach a deal with the US, including reopening the strait of Hormuz to international shipping.

Clive Myrie presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Lyse Doucet in Iran and Simi Jolaoso in Washington.
