A Crowborough resident has told GB News how the area feel they are in a David vs. Goliath battle with the Government as migrants move in to nearby former military barracks.

Speaking to Patrick Christys, Marmaduke Devereaux-Astley said the locals been “thrown to the wolves” and that “no one’s coming to save us.”

He said: “We are having to fight back in a David and Goliath battle against this government, because the they’ve treated us appallingly… We feel that the Home Office’s intent is nefarious and their tactics are duplicitous and downright dishonest.”

BREAKING: Rachel Reeves and David Lammy OUT of Andy Burnham’s Government as shake-up begins

Published

Rachel Reeves has announced she is stepping down as Chancellor, describing it as “the privilege of my life” to serve in the role.

In her resignation letter, she said the Labour government had restored stability, delivered investment and begun economic reform, adding that she was proud of the impact on working people and hoped her time in office would inspire future generations. Reeves also pledged her full support to Prime Minister Andy Burnham and his successor, who is widely expected to be Shabana Mahmood.

David Lammy has also confirmed he is leaving the government as part of Andy Burnham’s reshuffle. In a statement, Lammy said he would have been proud to continue serving but accepted the Prime Minister’s right to build his own team. Reflecting on his time in government, he highlighted work on foreign policy, justice reform, investment in the courts and prisons, and support for Ukraine, before confirming he will continue as Labour MP for Tottenham from the backbenches.

Andy Burnham told to KEEP Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary as new Prime Minister reshuffle Cabinet

Published

By

Robert Jenrick has urged Andy Burnham to keep Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary as the new Prime Minister decides his first Cabinet.

Reports suggest Ms. Mahmood is set to replace Rachel Reeves as Chancellor.

Speaking to GB News, Reform UK’s Treasury spokesperson said removing Mahmood from her existing role would show Burnham is “going to water down the immigration reforms that she was pursuing.”

He said: “I like Shabana… If she leaves the Home Office, without question, it means that Andy Burnham is going to water down the immigration reforms that she was pursuing, which were trying to stop the Boris wave from making a permanent life here in the UK. And that should concern us.”

Jenrick added: “She herself does not want this job. She has tried to avoid taking on this job as chancellor. She doesn’t say things about the economy and when the country’s in such a mess as it is right now, you want someone who’s got a very clear plan.”
