People should not get “carried away with over optimism” after the UK approved its first coronavirus vaccine, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned.
The prime minister said it did not mean “our struggle is over”, saying parts of the economy still faced tough restrictions.
England’s deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam urged patience over the rollout of the Pfizer/BioNTech jab, which begins early next week.
But care home residents will have to wait due to logistical challenges.

Why has the UK sanctioned Israeli settlers and what does it mean for Trump? | The Global Story
On Tuesday, the UK government announced sweeping sanctions against Israeli settlements in the West Bank, and accused settlers of ‘ethnic cleansing.’
Soon after, 11 other countries, including Canada, France, Spain and Poland, announced a ban on goods imported from illegal settlements.
In response, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said there would “without a doubt” be a reaction from the US, adding that the move could have a “huge economic impact on British businesses.”

At least five people are dead and 86 remain unaccounted for after a fire broke out on a ferry in the Philippines, the country’s coastguard says.
Coastguard Captain Noemi Cayabyab says 43 people were rescued.
The fire engulfed the MV June Aster as it was taking 134 passengers and crew to Coron – a place popular with tourists.
