Back-to-back earthquakes have killed at least 164 people in Venezuela, acting President Delcy Rodríguez has said.

In the capital Caracas, rescuers are searching through the rubble and people have been heard calling for help.

There are fears the tolls will rise further, as the US Geological Survey suggests there is a 44% chance of more than 10,000 fatalities.

The quakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, hit a minute apart. The second was the strongest to hit Venezuela since 1900.

Growing concerns over young people using anti-aging products, have prompted industry regulators in Italy to investigate claims that some brands are using young influencers to promote skincare products to other children.

Investigators say that the practice is linked to the broader issue of ‘cosmeticorexia’ – a new term coined by some healthcare professionals to describe an obsession with skincare.

People have been forced to flee their homes in Belfast amid disorder following a knife attack.

Houses and cars have been set on fire and all public transport has been paused in the city.

A 30-year-old Sudanese man is due to appear in court on Wednesday charged with attempted murder following the attack in north Belfast on Monday night.

He has also been charged with possession of an article with blade in a public place and threats to kill.

A man in his 40s remains in hospital with serious injuries to his eyes, neck and back after the attack

A maximum red heatwave alert covers more than half of France, where temperatures have broken the average record for June. The heat is also touching 40 Celsius in Spain and Portugal.
