Buenos Aires rocked by violent clashes over Argentina’s President Milei reforms | BBC News
Argentina’s Senate has approved President Javier Milei’s controversial economic reform package.
The vote took place as violent clashes raged between protesters and riot police outside Congress.
A number of people were reported injured as demonstrators in Buenos Aires – who say the measures will hurt millions of Argentines – clashed with police.
The reforms, aimed at reviving the country’s flagging economy, include declaring a state of economic emergency, cutting pensions and watering down labour rights.

Prada acknowledges footwear design’s Indian roots after backlash | BBC News
Prada brand has acknowledged the Indian roots of its new footwear line, after the design sparked a controversy in India.
The sandals, showcased at the Milan Fashion Week, had an open-toe braided pattern that closely resembled the traditional Kolhapuri sandals made in the Indian states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The luxury fashion brand described the sandals as “leather footwear” but did not mention its Indian origins, prompting backlash and allegations of cultural appropriation in India.
Prada said that it recognises that the sandals are inspired by traditional Indian footwear.

Major win for Donald Trump as US Congress passes ‘big, beautiful bill’ | BBC News
The US Congress has passed Donald Trump’s tax and spending bill in a significant and hard-fought victory for the president and his domestic agenda.
After a gruelling session on Capitol Hill, the House of Representatives passed the bill by a vote of 218 to 214 on Thursday afternoon.
President Trump had given the Republican-controlled Congress a deadline of 4 July to get a final version of the bill to his desk to be signed into law.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill could add $3.3tn to federal deficits over the next 10 years and leave millions without health coverage – a forecast that the White House disputes.
