Donald Trump has spoken out about the riots in Paris, blaming open borders for the violent scenes.

Nearly 1,000 arrests have been made, with around 70,000 French police officers deployed to tackle the violent unrest on French streets.

GB News was on the scene as officers fired tear gas at left-wing protesters.

Speaking at a rally in Georgia, the US President said: “They have good police in France, but they’re not allowed to do their job. So France is right now burning down because it opens its borders to people who hate it. These are people who hate it. They hate France. They hate the people of France. They move there. They don’t like the buildings. They don’t like the monuments. They don’t like the paintings. They don’t like anything about France.”

Trump senior aide says meeting with Argentine President NOT about Falkland Islands

Published

One of Donald Trump’s senior aides has told GB News her meeting with Argentine President Milei was nothing to do with the Falkland Islands.

It comes after the US President suggested he may support Argentina when it comes to discussions surrounding the future of the island.

In an exclusive interview with The Late Show Live host, Bev Turner, Trump was questioned on whether he would support the UK’s fight for sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.

Speaking to GB News, Sarah Rogers, the President’s Under Secretary of State, said her meeting with Javier Milei was not related to the islands.

She said: “It’s a big misconception. We had a fantastic meeting. I think Milei is one of the most exciting leaders on the world stage, and he’s brought a much needed reform agenda to Argentina. But the fact that that meeting took place in proximity to the Falklands address was a complete coincidence.”

Chagossians could get legal veto over ‘surrender deal’ with Mauritius

Chagossians could be handed a veto to stop the islands being handed to Mauritius under a Bill passed by peers this lunchtime.

The British Sovereignty Protection (Chagos Islands) Bill, which cleared the second reading stage in the House of Lords today, would give Chagossians a veto over any deal.

The proposed legislation would mean sovereignty transfers require a referendum of Chagossians, an Act of Parliament and approval by the islands’ own administration.

The Bill will now proceed to the committee stage, where it would need Government support to continue.
