They say "three years for nigiri and eight years for maki," meaning it takes three years to gain techniques for making good shaped nigiri, but maki is much harder and takes eight years.

Those are not even mediocre sushi. Can't find real one in any other places but here in Japan.

  8. @Ovenman940

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

"He can make 6 pieces a minute. And everyone is perfect"

    Oh Gordon, you flatter me.

  9. @aakksshhaayy

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

hmm if a white guy becomes a pretty decent sushi chef he could go to Japan and make a lot of money… lots of people would want to go try sushi by the white guy

  10. @Melablood

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

he merely molds the sushi here, which is actually one of the "easier" parts of the process.

  11. @96redprelude

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

Lol! Didn't look like he was "struggling" to me!

  12. @Musicramkoz

  17. @MrWillarti

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

I bet he pretends not to do so well at the beginning for dramatic tension, but has a lot of experience and transferrable skill (and a willingness to try things out of his depth) that allow him to pick things other culinarry arts quickly.

Gordon ya british sleg.. Asian cuisine is the finest in the world..Practice more..

  19. @mathlover101hotmail

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

How is this a top sushi place? Any top sushi place should not have rainbow rolls and all that stuff.

  20. @FadedHeavens

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

Its so sad Aaya closed. It looks like such a good restaurant.

  21. @HiraethBathala

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

of course he's gonna be good at that. he's a chef. with 21 years of experience. how can he not be good at that at some point? LOL

  22. @IceBear_97

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

  23. @colummccrudden101

    1:42 – OH HELLO!!!

  24. @Spo8

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

A type of food Ramsay isn't good at cooking is just a type of food he hasn't tried to cook yet.

  25. @sahawatphotography

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

you made me start picking up the pots and pans, you're the man Gordon!!

  26. @gfcfchef

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

Gotta respect Chef Ramsay for wanting to learn more and more. A lot of British Chefs are like that and I carry the same attitude being a chef myself.

  27. @soulgamer6

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

The twist is that Gordon is in fact a complete culinary master of every type of food in existence and the entire premise of this show is the fact that he just pretends not to know what he's doing >.>

  28. @Kilox1000

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

Gotta hand it to him getting something down in like an hour that most people train for years to do

  29. @andreapazienza2500

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

it takes 10 years to become a sushi chef but for Ramsay only a morning…..ahahahahahah!!!! very modest!!!!

  30. @eufonioun

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

1:09, master sushi chef isn't even watching where he's cutting. So Masterful.

  31. @Midnight7762

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

    It was awful!
    And you said – perfect.
My first rolls were ito much better. Yes, European cuisine is given to me difficult, but … Gordon … what did you do – at best satisfactory.

  32. @cyns6965

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

Great job, Gordon! Now I want to see those sushi chefs come to your pub and make a Scotch egg. ;D

  33. @Morockiwi98

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

    SUSHII!!!! SOO BEAUTIFUL!!

  34. @susieannejackson

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

Sushi and sushi chefs always amaze me. To be so dedicated to one area of cuisine, but to have nearly mastered it in one lifetime… awesome! I could never dream of doing such precise work…

  35. @komali2

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

I don't know why he expects to make "perfect sushi" in 6 months. Japanese sushi chefs train for *years* in the highly perfection oriented Japanese culture. There's no way Ramsey has the time to replicate this. They make their lives sushi, he has like 20 different shows and restaurants across the world to manage.

  36. @TheCoolProfessor

    January 27, 2024 at 8:03 am

Chef, your love of cooking is bringing you to amazing places and learning experiences and that's why you are so great at what you do. You deserve your stars.
