What a disgraceful situation. Government is impoverishing people whilst ensuring their complete dependence on the state.

Why is nobody questioning the economic sanctions that have led to this energy crisis?

Our politicians have sold us all out and should be jailed for it !

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Meanwhile, fit healthy young men who have never paid into the systen are costing the taxpayer £7 million plus A DAY to be housed in hotels, with free meals & pocket money, whilst our own are having to take shelter & charity This is not a success story but the result of our weak politicians who have brought about hard times.

Reverse the language. We're being robbed by the gov. for heating costs. Doubling the cost of heating a vital necessity of life is robbery. It's not that we can't afford it.

Social distance one year pack them in the next. Keep the plebs confused

  13. @gobbledegook-ve8ok

I expect most people of this country would prefer to afford heat their own comfortable homes, rather than pay for foreign invaders to live like kings.

    What a great idea

  15. @TheMegahusky

Every town is the UK needs to take to the streets in protest over this unbelievable situation that our MPs, councilors & government is doing NOTHING about.
They need to STOP making excuses.

  18. @Thrazkar

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

How about investing in 50 or so nuclear power stations (free electricity for everyone living within a 5 mile radius of) nationalize them, then provide abundent cheap energy to residents of the United Kingdom before exporting and excess to foreign countries for a profit. How's about that???????????

  19. @Thrazkar

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Yet the illega l immigrants get housed for free.

  20. @MyMccarron

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

No to any of this, this is not the way to go

  21. @aidandonaghy673

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Unless you are a migrant illegally entering the country. You get to stay in a hotel, given 3 meals a day, laundry done for you, no bills to pay, and better access to medical care, In France they get zero apart from charities helping out.

  22. @timbrown1897

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

as it is free they will be a lot of takers and is for the people who are at home all day doing nothing makes you cold but go in to save a pound or two and come out with COVID or flu or worse

  23. @salford6

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

What’s the amount a day the taxpayer is spending on dinghy boat men?

  24. @shadowbanned975

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

250K+ in the bank and too tight to put the heating on. Just like lots of old people I know.

In my local council Sefton- the library removed all seating about 3 years ago to prevent homeless people using the library as a warm space during opening times. So now the plan is to finally provide a community service and have official warm banks. Hope they get some seating put back!!!

Its mainly the evening time around 4 pm when it gets cold. So these people will be going back to freezing cold homes. These warm places will help with people who are lonely, and make new friends. Im buying sleeping bags this Christmas , will wrap up warm and cozy in the house. Layers of clothes seem to weigh me down. 21 st Century is it or have I gone back in time!!!!!

  32. @shapexdd2164

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

    Get this woman a tissue

  33. @craphead9842

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Just make heating etc affordable to all and there's no need for these places. A no brainer really… Tony cuenca

  34. @ukar69

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

And yet ridiculous amounts of money are going to Ukrainian people and sheltering illegal immigrants

  35. @reeling-in

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Don’t worry, that rich London bloke with the title, comrade Starmer, will be well warm and fed this winter! And so will his union leader mates!!

  36. @stephfoxwell4620

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

    Huge irony isn't it?
They shut all the High Street Banks but now we need Food Banks and Warm Banks.

  37. @johnturnley6972

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Tories are scuttling the country before they are removed from power.

  38. @kentwydell9322

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Aren't all households getting a £62 month Energy Bills Support Scheme? That exceeds my monthly energy outgoings already.
In addition, many pensioners have got an increased winter allowance of £500. Up from £200. And… There was an additional £10 just paid for some reason.
And…. thanks to 'climate change' it's not as cold as it was when I was a child…. It is isn't it?

  39. @ravd8082

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Warm banks to shelter our own people from the cold ? what about the luxury hotels your giving away to illegal migrants all bills paid for with meals

  40. @joesph5692

    January 23, 2024 at 12:07 am

Throw all the illegals out of the country, problem solved, it ridiculous a person can come into the country illegally and claim asylum and be given five star treatment at tax payers expense, what happened to defending the borders from invaders, the border force and government are assisting illegal migration, the Tory party will not exist in two years time.
