Iran restores some internet access – but is it enough? | Global News Podcast
The government of Iran has restored some access to the internet this week, after a lengthy blackout imposed on and off, for most of this year. Many Iranians are celebrating the move, which has allowed some people to contact friends and family members abroad for the first time in weeks. It could also be a lifeline for Iranians who depend on digital platforms to earn a living.
There is speculation that the move could be intended to show US President Donald Trump that the regime is willing to make some compromises at home.
But digital monitoring groups say the level of internet access is still poorer than it was before Tehran imposed its blackouts, first as a response to mass protests in January, and again at the start of the war with the US and Israel. Access to some sites is still blocked and analysts say two-factor authentication is not available in Iran, impeding many people’s access to platforms like Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
Reha Kansara, from the BBC’s Global Disinformation Unit, tells us what restrictions Iranians still face, how people are trying to get around them, and how this partial restoration of internet access could play into the ceasefire talks between Tehran and Washington.

Ebola risk raised to ‘very high’ in DR Congo | BBC News
The public health risk from the current Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been raised from “high” to “very high” by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In an update on Friday, WHO head Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also said the risk in the wider region in Africa was “high”, but it remained “low” globally.
The rare species of Ebola, known as Bundibugyo, has no proven vaccine and kills about a third of those infected. So far, the outbreak centred on DR Congo has resulted in 177 suspected deaths and 750 suspected cases.
It comes as scientists at Oxford University in the UK are developing a new vaccine that could be ready for clinical trials within two to three months.

Saudi and Emirates war in Yemen has proven that their mission is different that what has
been spoken . There are ready legitimate Yemeni soldiers there to
liberate all parts of Yemen from Houthi but Saudi and Emirates don't want that especially
Emirates are jeopardizing the war by working closely to split South Yemen
thinking they will work with them and the free port shouldn't be
opened but as time passes the story will be not like what their are doing.
Yemen people late alone to fearful Emirates and Saudis they didn't kneel
down to British soldiers and history is showing that. Also Saudis don't
want Yemen to be peaceful and develop because they fear if Yemen develops they
will be unsecured which is sickness to think like that but now they are in
another problem about Jemal and the truth is coming and Yemen finally will be
liberated from these two big devils and Houthis. They have been killing innocent people
indiscriminately and destroyed all the infrastructure on purpose but guess
what? Finally Saudi and Emirates including Houthis will be on war crimes and they will pay the price. You cant rule or fight by lies or deceiving the world saying we are liberating Yemen when you are starving and killing innocents and legitimate solders on purpose during advancement. When legitimate
Yemen government is advancing to liberate a city the Emirates and Saudis stop
them and by telling them different reasons and this can be evidenced from
the military at the war zone. They have not killed only 10k but they have
killed more 100K innocent Yemenis and the world is silent on that because we
are selling them weapons and we don't want to loose our business , shame to see
this in this kind of 21st century. What you see on the media is what you see how about what you don't see? Emirates and Saudis rulers are now become like cancer to the middle east and this is time Regime change is important and decisive to bring peace there and in the world. Now people are educated and they don't want to see those arrogant Kings or princes and democracy should prevail there. Yemen is more democratic comparing to Saudi but now Saudi regime is in the eyes of the world in the world is serious about what is happening.

The most logical thing to do about thisYemen war, is to continue to try to find a negotiated solution, direct negotiations, or through third parties. All sides should give and take and not expect to get everything they want, and in the end the Yemeni people should decide who they want to rule them, through a popular and as fair as possible vote.

"Saudi doesn't want…" certain neighbours, but it does want regional domination so its ok for them to kill with impunity. It suits America and Israel and they're not squeamish about other peoples blood or the starvation of innocents..

it's all about the OIL and the banks. Yemen does not want dictators, but democracy- is that so wrong? So now, they are trying to starve them to death. BBC shill. Do the Saudis and the US have anything at all to do with this war? I think so- but the BBC will not mention this. Nice story but fake.

Thank You Russia for flooding the Middle East with 40 Million weapons to terrorist over the last 25 years causing the deaths of millions . And thank you for providing limitless ammunition to keep it going . And by the way giving Iran Nuclear Technology really did the world a favor and will guarantee a Nuclear exchange in the middle east and destroy their oil production. This will no doubt enslave the E.U. and China to Russian oil blackmail. Can't wait to see three fifths of the world with the Russian boot on it's neck.
