Libya: The fight for Tripoli explained from the front line – BBC News
Eight years after the fall of its former ruler, Muammar Gaddafi, Libya remains plagued by instability.
Last month the self-styled Libyan National Army led by strongman General Khalifa Haftar launched an offensive on the capital, Tripoli.
BBC Arabic’s Feras Killani has spent time embedded with fighters allied to the country’s internationally recognised Government of National Accord, as they battle to repel the assault.
He reflects on what he saw on the frontline, and explains what’s happening and what it means for Libya.

Hawk Fire wildfire in Nevada expected to rage for another two days, say officials | BBC News
US fire crews have reported progress in their efforts to tackle a large wildfire menacing the city of Reno, Nevada – saying the blaze is about a quarter contained.
The Hawk Fire, which began on Saturday, had spread over 15,000 acres by Monday, firefighters said.
Evacuation orders remain in place for 23,000 people, though other residents have now been allowed to return to their homes. Tens of thousands of other residents have been told to be ready to leave at any moment.
Officials are concerned that gusts of wind could drive the flames towards more homes. Unfavourable weather conditions are forecast for the next two days, meaning the fire could continue to burn during that timeframe.

China has vowed to protect its interests after the US announced plans to widen economic sanctions against Iran and its trading partners, which include Beijing.

( To the people who say that if Gaddafi was still alive this wouldn’t have happened ). If Gaddafi was still alive things would’ve been much worse, for example in Tripoli Isis were severing peoples heads and playing football with them and he didn’t do anything, people in Tripoli had to literally fight for their lives and he didn’t do anything.

The people of Libya were uprising against Gaddafi, it was obvious they wanted him out. But, since his death and overthrow, why hasn't the majority of the people in Libya United peacefully to elect a new government ? They have been fighting every since. I hope one day they find peace.
