India first country to record 400,000 daily Covid cases – BBC News
India has become the first country to report more than 400,000 new coronavirus cases in a single day.
The country has expanded its coronavirus vaccination drive as it grapples with huge numbers of Covid cases. All adults in India are now eligible to be vaccinated.
Some 3,523 deaths were officially recorded in the past 24 hours – but the real figure is thought to be far higher as many fatalities go unreported.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

despite of such a huge population India successfully completed her vaccination drive for every citized. Today 1300 Million people of India are fully vaccinated with more than 600 Million got even booster shot. WHO predicted that India would take 13 years to cover full vaccination of all population but under Prime minister Modi's leadership India did it in 9 months…9 MONTHS….. everyone…and India supplied her Indigenous vaccines to more than 55 countries…Great drive

India approved on Wednesday the first home test for Covid-19, allowing people to buy a kit that costs ₹250 and gives results within 15 minutes.
The kit, manufactured by Pune-based Mylab Discovery Solutions Ltd, is a rapid antigen test (RAT) that should be used only by those who have Covid-19 symptoms or had close contact with an infected person, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

I'm losing people I know, every single day. The system has completely failed. People are dying waiting for hospital beds, meanwhile our dear leaders refuse to wear masks. A religious and idiotic chief minister of an Indian state, claims that the Hindu holy river Ganges will wash away the virus. After this lockdown, people are losing their sources of income, while the government looted it's citizens in the name of PM Cares fund. Only the financially stable people can afford vaccine, as the central government broke it's promise of giving free vaccines to all. I feel terrible.

Good for Australia to take this bold measure, in UK we are weak and we let people back in with self isolation and now virus is also here with people not connected to travel, so it has made it's way inside population. It might jeopardize long lock down measure that people here respected and yet all of our effort might go down the drain as we could not understand the severity of Indian strain on time. I really wish Indian people will take the virus seriously now and not attend massive political rally and religious festivals.

A country of 1.366 billion people. So not that surprising. Poor diet, overcrowding and living conditions, add to that keeping covered of avoiding the sun so vitamin D deficiency is the norm. 400,000 a day being taken ill ( allegedly) isn't as bad as it could be.
although covid is killer thankfully it is no where near as bad as it has been made out to be.
Vitamin D has been medically proven to give 98% protection from the wrost effects of covid.
