E Jean Carroll testifies at Donald Trump defamation trial | BBC News

Published

on

E Jean Carroll has testified that Donald Trump “shattered” her reputation after she accused him of sexually assaulting her in the 1990s.

The judge threatened to kick the former president out of the federal court in Manhattan after he was overheard criticising her testimony.

This is the former Elle columnist’s second civil defamation case against Mr Trump. She is seeking $10m (£8m).

Mr Trump, 77, has denied her accusation and continues to do so.

Last May, a jury found him liable for sexual abuse and defamation, though not for rape, and awarded Ms Carroll $5m. That trial was based on his 2022 remarks that her story was a “con job” and “hoax”.

He is a proven liar that has been convicted by a jury of his peers who faces the gravest of offences
And has betrayed his country.Anyone who has followed the investigations and inquiries since that tragic day should see the overwhelming evidence against him.No ifs or buts he deserves to be left a pauper in prison for what he has done to his country.

They have their second amendment to stop bad politics and the trump voters thought the election was not legit so they put their lives on the line some there just out of not wanting to back down and some fully believing the election was not legit, so much like the earliest Christians after Jesus body was thrown to starving feral dogs and if movies have taught me one thing it’s that an American election being fair would be the news story.

He has been found gultiy of sexual assault and defaming her in May.
This hearing is about how much he has to pay her. It is not about whether or not he did the crime as he has been found guilty of that.

The legal advisers helping migrants pretend to be gay to stay in the UK | BBC Newscast

Published

on

Today, an undercover BBC investigation has found evidence of law firms and legal advisors helping migrants pretend to be gay to get asylum.

Migrants were advised to take staged photos at nightclubs, attend LGBT events and to go to GPs pretending to be depressed to obtain medical evidence to support their cases.

Adam and Chris are joined by BBC politics investigation correspondent Billy Kenber, who uncovered the story. In response to our findings, the Home Office said: “Anyone found trying to exploit the system will face the full force of the law, including removal from the UK.”

Plus, Adam also checks in with Faisal, who’s in the US at the IMF’s annual conference. He fills us in on the indirect war of words between Rachel Reeves and her US counterpart, Scott Bessent.

I watched Hungary’s 16-year Viktor Orbán era crumble | BBC News

Published

on

Hungary has seen a historic election result. After 16 years in power, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been ousted from the role.

Péter Magyar’s Tisza party won a comfortable “super majority” with two-thirds of the seats in parliament, meaning the party will be able to change the constitution.

The defeat will mean a huge reset of Hungary’s relationships with the rest of the world.

Orbán has been a close partner of both US President Donald Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and he had become a big thorn in the side of the EU and Ukraine.

The BBC’s Europe Editor Katya Adler was in Budapest as the election unfolded, and takes you with her in this video as a historic defeat takes place.

Americans react to President Donald Trump’s feud with Pope Leo XIV | BBC News

Published

on

Americans are reacting to President Donald Trump’s escalating feud with Pope Leo XIV and the backlash surrounding an AI-generated image depicting the president as a Jesus-like figure, which has since been deleted.

On Monday, Trump posted a lengthy Truth Social message attacking the pontiff, who has been a vocal critic of the US and Israeli military operations in Iran.

He criticised the Pope, calling him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy”.

The Pope said on Monday that he has “no fear” of the Trump administration or “speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do”.
