Azerbaijan president withdraws from Nagorno-Karabakh talks – BBC News
The president of Azerbaijan has withdrawn from EU-hosted talks with Armenia’s Prime Minister, over the future of the Nagorno-Karabakh.
Thousands of Armenians have fled the region in the days after Azerbaijani forces seized Nagorno-Karabakh during a lightning-fast military operation, fearing ethnic cleansing.
But, President Ilham Aliyev is reported to have wanted Turkey to take part in the talks, which was rejected by officials from France and Germany, leading to Azerbaijan pulling out of discussions.

President Volodymr Zelensky has appealed to Germany to supply Ukraine with tanks, as leaders meet to discuss further aid.
Defence leaders from a number of Nato members are meeting at the US air base in Ramstein, Germany to discuss sending further aid ahead of an anticipated Spring offensive by Russia.
Germany is under increasing pressure from other countries to supply its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, as the UK prepares to send a dozen Challenger 2 tanks.
“If you have Leopard [tanks], then give them to us, these leopards won’t go through Russia. We’re defending ourselves.”, he told public TV in Germany.

The US and Iran have exchanged the largest number of strikes in weeks – after Iran retaliated to American attacks by launching strikes against US assets across the Middle East.
Iran says one US strike hit a wedding celebration in the south of the county, killing four people including one child.
The US has denied targeting civilians but US Central Command says they’re ‘looking into’ the strike.

Summer 2026 was the UK’s hottest on record, according to provisional data from the Met Office.
Figures for the months of June, July and August show that the average mean temperature – which includes day and overnight temperatures – was 16.5C, the warmest on record in a dataset going back to 1884.
The highest temperature recorded this summer was 38.1C (100.6F) at Kew Gardens in London on 13 August.
At a more regional level, England, Wales and Northern Ireland also broke their respective mean temperature records for summer, while Scotland reported its joint-sixth warmest summer on record.

Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma says the gaming giant needs to be “thinking about” affordability for its next-generation console, amid a “crisis” in computing prices.
Speaking exclusively to the BBC’s Laura Cress at Gamescom in Cologne, she said rising hardware costs partly driven by AI spending mean firms need to find ways to make gaming affordable.
She also revealed gamers will soon be able to get digital versions of many of the physical games they currently own, potentially meaning their old games can be played on future Xbox consoles without having to put a disc in a drive.

Aliyev is a coward and a hypocrite just like his master Erdogan, just like the video shows he can't even face the west without his daddy. Also why does BBC interview displaced azeris and not armenians, pretty biased in my opinion, are they feeding you oil money? People talk about isreal palestine issue but Armenians has been long facing evictions from both their turkic neighbors. Even if stepanakerd is Azeri land you never saw an armenian wanting peace because they know it belonged to them, they were firm in that matter, but now that azeris got what they wanted they talk about peace ? cowards !
