Inside the mind of white America – BBC News
The concept of there being “two Americas” is almost as old as the nation itself. From the outset there were the landowners, the ruling class – the “haves”. And then there were the have-nots. That divide has been economic but also racial, with minorities claiming a disproportionately small share of the nation’s substantial wealth.
And yet, a 2013 Pew Research Center study showed that half of white Americans surveyed do not feel that African Americans are treated less fairly by the police, employers, doctors and others. Only 13% of blacks felt the same way. Amid the current backdrop of the Black Lives Matter movement and increasing wealth disparity, Clive Myrie from the BBC’s This Week’s World delves into what white Americans understand – or don’t – about race.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

I will never trust black people, after falling under a stampede in high school, civil rights for black people, you better believe I will lead white civil rights. I have come to understand you have haters in both groups, and I am not one of them. After study, I am a fan of Mr. John Lewis. This is just bullschit. The US has poured $22 TRILLION down the hole of Affirmative Action, SNAP, EBT, Sec. 8, preferential educational grants, school lunches, crime, prisons, Community Block Grants, Community Reinvestment Act, FHA loans, blah, blah … And it has not made a dent.
All its done is created an entitlement mentality, that people who have never owned slaves have to pay people who never were slaves. And ITS NEVER ENOUGH. It cripples black children in their minds.
I know, I used to mentor black young people after I retired. They were thrilled to discover that it was completely within their power to make themselves into valuable business assets, if they adopted a few habits, and decided to be a solution to an employers problem. They didn't need any favors from whites, they could do it ON THEIR OWN.
They had always thought that some white person had to do something for them. And the ones that followed my advice did very well, very quickly!
Everybody deserves a chance. Not everyone will see, or take that chance. Employers are starving for solutions-oriented employees. They will invest in such employees, send them to school, invest in their future.
Oh, and all that "redlining" he lied about…It's been illegal since 1972, and handing out Liar Loans to unqualified blacks was a primary cause of the 2008 crisis. It devastated black people who had bought, maintained, and paid off theirs loans, by talking them into cheap refis. I saw it up close. Who were the usual perps? Black loan officers. Disgusting.

Some whites have been extremely beneficial to me and I don't attack all whites. Having said this, most white Americans seem bent on using pathetic means to get something out of Asians and suppress black people. This goes beyond simple name calling, but behavior too. For example, white males are obsessed with Asian women they date Asian women all the time, that's pretty much all you see. But they'll never offer you as a minority to date their women and if you do they start hating and might try to kill you. Certain Germanic white males are just really really small inside.. Go date some black women for a change

When my family was starving, it was the whites that showed up to feed us and clothe us in our former country. We moved to America and got robbed for the first time, by blacks repeatedly. My mother was harassed daily. Black neighborhoods are hell on earth.
