02:13 so is there a particular pronoun I should use or is it a symbol and series of letters.

If that's just a regular woman doing regular woman things I apologize that was rude.

Can you people please… don't. It doesn't matter who "originally" used the symbol (as a former scout, I'd argue it has nothing to do with the scouts. It's supposed to be used with a 45 degree bent right arm, unlike in HG where it's the left hand that's used and it's raised all the way, and the meaning of the symbol is different in HG anyways, but I digress). It's about it being used as a symbol of revolution. Stop muddying the moment by spouting unnecessary "Oh… Hunger Games not original uwuu" because it's not about that.

That salute is from Boy Scouts around the world for almost a hundred years ago started in England. The three Index Middle and Ring fingers are represented for three promised of a Boy Scouts. The Thumb over the Pinky means that using your strong of power, knowledge, money, and talent to help whoever weaker than you (in an intelligent way).

The legitimate governing authority of Aung Sann Sukyi & her party must be restored immediately.
The military is not allowed to subvert (in any form or manner) the democratic election duly won by Aung Sann Sukyi & her party.
IMO, it's time for China to re-consider her "non- intervention" foreign policy in this particular regard and to take the appropriate action (either via UN or ASEAN or directly by herself) to assist them (the military & the civil leadership) to overcome this political impasse so as to restore back the political stability in Myanmar …..
I pray that Myanmar won't become another "Syria".

The TRUE DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT is based on the Power & Voice of the People, For the People and Governed by the PEOPLE, which is LEGITIMIZED via a Process of a Peaceful Democratic Election, and not lodged thru a Violent Military Take Over due to an unpopular claims of Election Fraud! (Trumpism).
Military Coup is neither a Principle nor a Feature of Democracy!
It will otherwise lead to an ABSOLUTE AUTHORITARIAN MILITARY GOVERNMENT, i.e., Afghanistan, Syrria, N. Korea, China, Iran & Russia!

Margaret Atwood on gender, women’s rights, and Roald Dahl revisions – BBC News

Published

on

Booker prize winner Margaret Atwood describes herself as an “observer,” but in her many novels she has often offered us a portal to understanding, be it about totalitarianism, or the idea of other forms of life, future and past.

In her latest book, Old Babes in the Woods, she navigates death and the loss of loved ones, in short stories which are both acerbic and hilarious, as well as adding to her fantastical oeuvre, such as an octopus-like creature narrating its own interpretation of a folk tale.

Seven of the stories feature the characters Tig and Nell, a thinly-veiled portrayal of Atwood and her long-life partner Graeme Gibson who died four years ago. Margaret Atwood began her interview with Kirsty Wark with a reading from the darkly funny story, Widows.

How AI ‘reskins’ are stealing human content | BBC News

Published

on

From shadowboxing Parisians to chihuahuas fronting rap videos, the acceleration in generative AI capability is now impossible to miss on our feeds.

This week, Matt and Marianna explain how new software allows users to ‘reskin’ video content to make anyone say or do literally anything they like.

They discuss the resulting shift from realism to absurdism online, the existential threat to any type of IP ownership, and why independent creators inevitably suffer the most.
