Most will be welcomed here and put in lovely hotels, well fed, given endless goods and spending money whilst our own are very, very short of money and many homeless, disgusting.

Before the Lorrie gets to Britain they should check all around the Lorrie and inside the lorries to stop them from coming in to the uk

This situation was obvious many years ago and could have been avoided by refusing to build the road tunnel.

If it's not lorry drivers gaining profit then the government are just walking them in anyway.

£6m a day is £2.1bn per year. There are 32m people employed in the U.K. which means each person pays £68 per year just for hotels for economic migrants. There are then all the cash allowances all the judicial and healthcare implications. It is likely that 1% of peoples salary after tax is used for migrant people, most of whom are now men coming from Albania and join criminal gangs who have never and will never pay in

Saudi nationals killed as Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen step up airport attacks | BBC News

Published

Saudi Arabia has said three people have been killed after the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen attacked Riyadh airport on Thursday.

It’s the latest in series of attacks on airports across the country, as the conflict escalates between Saudi-supported Yemeni government forces and the Houthis.

Elsewhere a US Treasury official has told the BBC that economic pressure from America has Tehran ‘on its knees’, and they hope the tactic will end the current regime in Iran.

Meanwhile Iran’s president has said his country will not walk away from peace negotiations, despite threats from the United States.

Margaret Atwood on gender, women’s rights, and Roald Dahl revisions – BBC News

Published

on

Booker prize winner Margaret Atwood describes herself as an “observer,” but in her many novels she has often offered us a portal to understanding, be it about totalitarianism, or the idea of other forms of life, future and past.

In her latest book, Old Babes in the Woods, she navigates death and the loss of loved ones, in short stories which are both acerbic and hilarious, as well as adding to her fantastical oeuvre, such as an octopus-like creature narrating its own interpretation of a folk tale.

Seven of the stories feature the characters Tig and Nell, a thinly-veiled portrayal of Atwood and her long-life partner Graeme Gibson who died four years ago. Margaret Atwood began her interview with Kirsty Wark with a reading from the darkly funny story, Widows.
